My sketchy looking mock-up of a perch that I will use with 1 gal Rotopax containers (using their pack mount system). I want to move away from just strapping fuel to my seat/tail bag. No mods required to the bike, so I can have the grab rails on there and a tail bag most of the time, and switch out for longer or more remote trips. I did not have enough material, so the plate is short... but the important bits are there. Thinking of working with 5052 Aluminum for this... 1/8" plate and 1/4" front supports. Probably a 2 gallon load capacity (<15lbs). This will be my first time annealing and bending aluminum, so should be fun... and probably a bit more expensive …

I've tried a 2014 Yamaha R1 clutch cable. It works but it doesn't have the Gradual ninety degree steel tube at the top Like the second generation clutch cable for Generation one and generation two FJ/tracers. I have not contacted someone like Motion Pro who make custom cables to see how much one would cost and delivery time (not that I'm going to be riding until mabe June) I only need about 2~3 more inches with the Street Naked bars and +1" up & .75" back riser adapters I have. All the electric looms, throttle cables and Speigler brake line have enough slack. Has anyone found a suitable clutch cable off the shelf? Thanks for You're input

It seems I don't like doing things the easy way. I could just buy a seat. Instead, I am going to spend money on materials, then use countless hours of my time to make my own. This is the way. I'm weird, because I don't hate the stock seat. It is the most comfortable stock seat I have had. 4 years and 26k miles later, I haven't done anything except the JK3D slope mod, to keep my boys out of the tank. The stock seat is not, however, all day comfortable. Let's fix that! This isn't the first seat I've done. I started in 2015 with my 2012 NC700X seat. I added foam and reshaped things. It turned out ok, but I didn't know how to sew at the time. A local upholstery shop…

So I'm picking up a 2016 Tracer in the next week or so and the only company I have so far is the dash is monochrome but the newer models have a full colour tft dash. Is there any possibility of replacing the monochrome dash with the colour one or possibly even an aftermarket dash?

I've paved road toured on my FJ since 2015 using hard luggage (H-B C-bow Orbit panniers, Orbit 54L Top box and Givi Tank-Lock bag). On a recent trip in mainland Mexico, I had to ride a road works bypass road for 12 miles. It was knarly and rocky, with some sand. I came away impressed how well my street tire shod FJ did. The seed germinated on the way home. This bike will make a good ADV bike, meaning not two track/single track dual sport stuff, but gravel and improved dirt roads with the inevitable short challenging sections. From the outset I already had a Higdonion Cage V1.0, steering damper and Matris front and rear. These are the changes I made, not just for ergonomic…

Yippee, My replacement engine arrived yesterday Dec. 15, 2021. If you were following my discussion regarding redoing the head or just replacing the engine (https://tinyurl.com/3ctfzs82) with a used one, this is the continuation of that subject but centered on dropping the old engine and installing the replacement unit. Picture of engine can be seen on that post. I will try to record most of the following process. First off, I think I got a good used FZ09 engine with only 4,000 miles on it. At least that is what the odometer said as it could have been replaced at one time or another. I'm going with the engine only having 4K and it is rather clean compared to my …

I initially installed my big, honking rally lights on my Tracer, only to immediately determine that these really need to get installed on the new rally bike - it's the one that will need them in the desert night this summer. So I pulled them off and installed a couple old-school early-generation lamps - only 2" diameter, but they put out a crazy amount of light for their size. Now for the fun/exasperating part: laying down circuits and actually wiring it all together. First up: taking power from the FZ-1, looming the cables, and start the heavy-duty zip-tie process. I used this awesome 16-gauge silicone wire for my lamp circui…

This thread will chronicle my project to turn my 2015 FJ-09 into the ultimate long distance riding machine. I am preparing to ride Butt Lite X, the 10th and final running of this six day endurance rally that is like a shorter version of the 11-day Iron Butt Rally. An endurance rally is sort of a scavenger hunt, where riders will probably cover about 1000 miles per day for six straight days riding to places that will only be revealed in the hours before we start. Butt Lite X will take place in early July 2020, with the start/finish in Kansas City and a Midway checkpoint in South Dakota. I agonized over what to name this thread. My first choice was "FJ-09 LD" as in "Lo…

Tonight I installed my Givi TN2139 engine guards and they were an easy and perfect fit, once @betoney helped my idiot self by pointing out the bolt you remove on the left side goes all the way through and you have to remove the nut on the right side to pull out the bolt on the left side! I also have the Givi RP2139 skid plate installed, and fortunately they play together nicely. With the skid plate installed, you do not need to use the spacers that would normally go in that spot, which is the forward most bolt location. Now I'm feeling pretty solid on by protection farkles. I've got axle sliders on the front, skid plate, engine guards, radiator screen. I can now go …

Hey guys, I have what I think is a common problem. The bars on my 2016 Tracer 900 are to phucking wide and trying to get it in the back gate can be challenging as well as dangerous if I scrape the wall or drop it. Today I learned that the 2018 Tracer has bars that are 10cm narrower than my bars! Needless to say, I really need to narrow these bars and I don't want to start chopping bars. Can the 2018 Tracer 900 bars fit my 2016 Tracer 900 OR can anybody recommend for aftermarket bars??? 🤔 I'd love to find some aftermarket bars that would cut down on the vibrations from the engine too.

Tax return season is here, so that means parts for the FJ. I've read a lot of common upgrades on the forums so far and I'll follow suit for what I want to do in the next month. What's already been done/added by PO: Quickshifter and ECU flash. Puig frame sliders. Puig double bubble windscreen. Shorty adjustable levers. Givi rack and top case, two side cases M4 Carbon slip on exhaust Things I'm going to do in the next month: Heated grips (went with the OEM option from Yamaha Plaza) Skid plate and cage. Higdonian or T-Rex for this. Hig's design is good and I really like the Gen 2 but the T-Rex has a door you can p…
