  1. I just rode 500+ miles this past weekend, and didn't notice any buzzyness or rattling around. When stopped, if you turn the bars to full lock, when it hits the stop you can hear them.
  2. I tried the BB's and they work great! The vibes are GONE!!!!!!!!! For $3 worth of BB's and about 1/2hr of your time, it is a great mod. No downsides at all, and a big improvement.
  3. Adjuster- Excellent idea! I will try that very soon. Thanks,
  4. I fitted the KTM guards last year, and like them much more than stock. ALthough on long rides the vibes bother my right hand. Does anyone know if the FZ-09 heavy bar end weights like from HVP- would fit? http://www.ebay.com/itm/261434075351 I realize they might look a bit strange sticking out so far, but I know they will kill the vibes
  5. Just remove the factory hand guards (mostly useless) and put on a set of KTM guards. About $70 shipped to the US, perfect fit! Took 30 mins to install, and blocks way more wind. Looks better and doesn't hit any aftermarket shield!
  6. Yeah- I've got 3,100 on mine, and with a 700 mile trip this weekend, figure they will be done soon. With winter approaching, I'll be looking for at least a new rear in the spring.
  7. So the consensus is the stock tires last anywhere from 2,500 to 8,000+ miles. Ok, that was informative.
  8. Do not underestimate the effect road surface type plays in tire wear. I always kinda chuckle when hearing people who live all over the world trying to compare tire life. Aside from all the "normal" variables, surface "grippy ness" is an important factor. Places like Hawaii and New Zealand tend to have very coarse surfaces because they use some volcanic material in the roads. Add in a 250lb rider who rails the twisties and its easy to see how a rear tire could be toast after 3,000 miles. Against a 145 lb rider who is very easy on the throttle, rides in a cool climate with very smooth roads. That rider gets 10,000 miles from the same tire. Not surprising at all.
  9. Don't know, but you might consider a very short screen. Since getting the FJ in May, and watching the forums, it seems everyone is trying to completely eliminate any wind/ buffeting. With a VERY short screen on, the wind hits me at the bottom of the helmet. Completely clean, clear air. I am 5'10", so do a degree, YMMV. But, my torso is completely out of the wind. My previous ride, a 2003 Triumph Sprint ST, with a full fairing, the wind hit me in the same place, and just like the FJ, 300 mile, 8hr days were very comfortable. I am 46 yrs old, not 26. Maybe everyone is trying to make the FJ into a GoldWing?
  10. I have to say that the Laminar lip is HIDEOUS!!! WOW, hit with the ugly stick, hard! I know we aren't riding Hardley Ablesons that all anyone cares about is how it looks, but dude, have some respect
  11. I got the Cal Sci medium this spring, and think its a HUGE improvement over stock. I am 5'10", and wear a Nolan N102 with earplugs. I also made a shorty screen based on the plans someone here, Scotty? posted. Its very short, but for $10 at Home Depot, and about 1 hr of my time, was definitely worth it. I run the Cal Sci for long trips, or during spring and fall. Summer time, or around town, the shorty is the way to go. Its not even too bad on the freeway. Clean air hits the bottom of my helmet, ZERO buffeting or noise. Its about the same as my Sprint ST.
