  1. After much negotiations with myself. I had my ECU flashed with EDR Performance in Beaverton Oregon. I still have to install it back into the bike. I also bought some Yamaha heated grips. Wow, that was what was needed. The bike is handles so much better now. Gone is the twitchy throttle , it's more linear now. Smooth and predictable. Vibration is also gone at all rpms up to 7K and even then it is not all that bad. No more asleep right hand. Fuel mileage suffered only slightly. Lost .5 mile per gallon and conservative speeds. A mode is really aggressive and I will only need to ride in that mode for some high speed fun. The heated grips are really nice. I bought a OEM throttle sleave instead of trying to get the grip off the original one.
  2. Bought mine (2015) in November 2022. Came with full Shad cases, a top case, and 3700 miles. Upgraded the clutch cable as it was a noted issue. Ordered a manual timing chain tensioner as mine began making noise after my 1800-mile trip last week. ( note the dealer no longer has an upgraded model on the OEM parts list.) Upgraded the windscreen to a low one as the OEM and the touring one that it came with were both not working for me. I was on the fence about doing an ECU flash. However, after the trip. I think it will happen. And I'll upgrade the rear shock and add heated grips. Since I live in the PNW. I was able to get a custom seat made for my butt. Not a Sergeant or a Corbin. This was Rich's Motorcycle seats. It's a great bike, but it has some correctable flaws. At 6'2" it fits my frame and I am not uncomfortable on an all-day ride.
  3. I did a fun ride this weekend and it was full of bumps, twists, and turns. As I was leaning the bike through some of the twisties I could feel the rear kind of tighten while going over uneven pavement. It felt weird . I got home and checked the chain slack. It was at 25mm with the bike on the center stand and the swing arm hanging. I measured straight up just in front of the rear tire and made sure the upper portion of the chain stayed on the guide. Based on everything I have read here, that is too tight when the swing arm is in full compression. I adjusted it up to 30mm. As I spun the rear wheel it made almost no noise and seemed to spin longer.
  4. Added this skid plate . Seems a bit overkill, but I think it looks better than some of the others I've seen.
  5. I agree with the windscreen . My bike came with this huge touring windscreen that acted like a sail in crosswinds and made the bike look really bad. I put on the OEM. Terrible. At 6'2" I had some horrible buffeting in my helmet, no matter how I adjusted it. I was able to figure out that it was about 2-3" too tall. I was about to cut it down to that amount. However, I was able to find this racing screen from Puig. Perfect at the lowest setting
  6. Wow, all these high-mileage 2015 bikes. I bought mine with 3700 miles last November as a touring bike . I have 7000 on it now and I am planning a 1600-mile tour in September. With some scheduled maintenance, I see that I bought the right bike.
  7. First up brakes are brakes doesn't matter what bike it is. They all use the same parts. A spongey lever means there is air in the fluid. It could also be old. Brake fluid should be changed every 2 years. 2015 is 8 years old. Has the fluid been changed regularly? Brake fluid should not be cloudy, brown, or black. If it is, it is old and has water in it. Water causes the cups to swell and they begin to deteriorate. A spongey lever means that air has gotten into the system. Find out why and correct it. A rebuild can be it. If it gets rebuilt and you still have the issue. Find it. Also, the crush washers that mate the lines to the cylinder are one-time use only. They are cheap so it pays to use new ones. Also, your OEM rubber lines could be needing a replacement. Braided lines will help improve braking and are not subjected to the same issues that rubber lines get. Like sunlight. This ages the lines due to UV rays.
  8. Shoei GT Air 2 with drop-down internal visor.
  9. T-Rex Racing has an engine guard. I have purchased one for my bike without the crash guards. https://www.t-rex-racing.com/category-s/1865.htm
  10. Dave Moss has some good info on suspension tuning for motorcycles. You can try his remote tuning. https://davemosstuning.com/remote-tuning/
  11. Your clutch should begin to disengage within a few mm of pulling the lever in. How much free play does your lever have right now? You can adjust the free play to reduce the amount of lever pull before the clutch begins to disengage. You definitely want some free play. IF you have a slipper clutch I have no experience with those. As my 2015 FJ09 doesn't have one
  12. I'm still on the fence about flashing mine. I have done some kart racing in the past. One thing that gets you around the track faster is how you finesse the throttle and the brakes. I am applying this to this bike. So far it has worked very well in most instances.
  13. I have an appointment with Rich's this month. I was going to go the Corbin route as I have one on my FZ1 and it was fantastic. My brother had a custom one done on his BMW about 10 years ago from Rich's and says it is the same as when he got it done.
