  1. Did you adjust the chain by any chance. It is pretty easy to over tighten the chain slack.
  2. I had a nice 100 mile ride on my 1250GS on a 35 degree overcast day. Heated gear is your friend.
  3. No one cares about your new bike like you do……complete your service by yourself and know it was done correctly.
  4. I used the Motopumps risers…..up and back with no problems. https://www.motopumps.com/shop/yamaha-fz-09-fj-09-mt-09-tracer-900-tracer-900-gt-offset-bar-risers-25mm
  5. Easy fix……I use an old credit card and cut a 1/4” wide strip off of it. Take it and the USB plug, gps plug, etc. and push them both into the female socket….tight fit that won’t come out. I’ve used this method for years and the pics below show my Super Tenere factory port with a Garmin gps plug.
  6. #0000 steel wool, Simichrome, and/or chrome polish.
  7. Same here…..our weather has moderated to milder winters with very little snow (southern Illinois). I ride more in the winter than summer due to the heat and high summer humidity. I do keep my bikes pretty clean…..just don’t clean after every ride as I have been riding 25000 to 30000 miles a year for the last 6-7 years.
  8. The longer clutch arm smooths out and lengthens the friction zone of the clutch…..it is worth the $15.00 and ten easy minute install to try out.
  9. I replaced the arm on the clutch cover with the longer R3 lever which was an improvement in feel. Part number 15
  10. When did it last have a valve clearance check? Tight valves lead to start problems when hot. But, run a few tanks of fuel through it to clean things up.
  11. I owned both the Tracer 900 GT and a Tenere 700……the Tenere 700 CP-2 engine is one of the best engines that I have ever owned and the MT-07/XSR700/Tracer 700 should be at the top of your list.
  12. I only wear mesh air pants year round which include the rain liners/jeans underneath when colder…….due to the fact that I can’t stand the heat and humidity in the summer where I live. That said, I have been successfully using Frog Toggs for about a dozen years now for rain overpants. They have never let me down by leaking although their appearance is not the greatest after some wear. They pill up and can look somewhat ragged after a couple of seasons……I throw them away every once and while and buy another pair for around $30.00. They are super light, pack small, and come in tall lengths for my long legs. I use a regular Olympia rain overcoat over my riding jacket for rainy days.
  13. Is your bike subject to the Yamaha recall that replaces the front brake switch? https://thebrakereport.com/front-brake-switch-recall-of-yamaha-motorcycles/
  14. I am retired and ride every chance I get. I take several bike trips a year which last year accounted for almost 12,000 miles and have at least 12-13,000 miles of trips scheduled for 2023 with several friends. I live in the St. Louis, MO area and have had mostly mild, minimal snow winters for several years allowing year round riding. My riding goal when retired was to ride at least 20,000 miles per year for twenty years straight. This is my 18th year and still on goal. My big year was 2017 with a little over 36,000 bike riding miles…….mostly on a Super Tenere.
  15. I live south of St Louis, MO and most of the riding in Missouri south of Interstate 44 is great riding + central and NW Arkansas……..I’ve worn out many a tire in MO and AR👍
  16. Chicagoland metro traffic would knock a lot of miles off of anybody’s riding. Good luck with the healing process…..takes longer as you age.
  17. Over 30,000 miles so far this year and over 34,000 miles in 2021. I have ridden 20,000+ miles for 17 years straight including this year and my goal is twenty consecutive 20,000 mile riding years. I am currently down to one motorcycle after selling my Tracer 900 GT in the summer and selling my Tenere 700 last month. So, I have been piling the miles on my Super Tenere.
  18. I picked up some scrap graphics paper from a local store and cut the stripes to size on a workbench.
  19. https://www.advrider.com/f/threads/a-solution-for-cleaning-burned-plastic-off-exhaust.729631/ I have read many times on the forums that using Easy Off oven cleaner works.
  20. That happened with me on an older Super Tenere with factory cruise. I opened the switch housing slightly and sprayed contact cleaner in the switch while working all of the buttons and switches …… problem solved.
  21. Here is the stock length. I would think the spring OD would likely be the same as a similar fork if the inside fork tube OD is the same??
  22. Less weight with no washer…..every little bit helps. Good job on the sprocket removal.
