  1. I got a V-Stream sport touring screen on Thursday. Swapped it in that night and rode ~700mi over the last three days. The V-Stream is better. Nice clean air up to about 65mph, then it starts to get rumbly. It's not particularly loud until nearly triple digits mph. The bracket works well at keeping it from bouncing around, better than the Ermax which uses the Yamaha mounting plate. It has quite a bit less flex than the Ermax touring screen likely both because of its shape and the fact that it's a lot thicker. ... It's slightly taller than I prefer, I can't see over the top of it to see the road right in front of the tire, but the light smoke color is plenty clear enough. I was worried that it would block so much air that I'd stifle on a hot day, but it got up to about 80F and there was enough air coming around onto my arms and through the mesh jacket that it wasn't a problem. Works for me. Works really well for me, even. ... Yes, even though I didn't do anything like 700 miles (probably not even 70) it's clear that I prefer the Sport Touring over the Touring. It was a blustery day and I think over 60mph was when it started to get a bit noisy. If I dipped my head just an inch I was in clean air so for slabbing I'll probably bring the screen into the middle or top position. Both V-streams are good and significantly better than stock any day of the week.
  2. I just swapped out the V-Stream touring for a V-stream sport-touring screen. The touring did a fabulous job of stopping all the buffeting and noise but I always felt a little self-conscious with it on the bike. At 5'9" it's probably just a tad too big, I'm about to go and find out...
  3. Fitted some VisionX Optimus Round 10W LED driving lights on the front and a fixed UHF antenna for ship-to-shore comms at the rear.
  4. Yes, I was thinking about the tilt angle yesterday as I was riding in the (rare) British sunlight. Oh well, back to the drawing board... 8-|
  5. It's just a flat 3mm plate. If anyone else is going to do something similar I'd recommend some kind of shroud or cowl as it's hard to read the voltmeter or see the Cruise LED in bright sunlight. I'm happy with it, though and it does the job.
  6. I bought these and installed them yesterday. Easier than filling the tank with gas and about the same money. They look like stock, would certainly recommend.
  7. I fitted Andreani forks and a Nitron R1 shock. OK, well I didn't do that but the lovely people at the garage are doing that as I laze around in bed (it's a Saturday morning!) while they are also doing the 12 month service. I'm hoping to pick-up a completely different bike just before lunch. I've also ordered some SW Motech 28mm bar risers and Adventure-Tech's mirror extenders that I will fit during the week as it seems like a much more manageable job.
  8. I'll try this tomorrow. What force did you apply to the brake lever each time, was it in Nm ft-lb? How many runs did you have to do to reach a 95% confidence level when you calculated the variance between ABS and non-ABS? Presumably you used the Chi-Squared test? I'm a little rusty on some of the comparative stats but appreciate the need erradicate any theories or assumptions.
  9. I fitted the Denali Split Sound Bomb in a similar fashion although positioned the compressor under the seat locking mechanism. What I found was that the supplied tube wasn't long enough to go between the horn and the compressor so I used some ride-on mower braided fuel line, which I figured would weather the engine environment better. With my CC on order and a need to remove the tank, I may seek out this hidey-hole described above as I'm pretty sure there's no cannister to worry about on my UK model.
  10. I also fitted the Denali Split Soundbomb yesterday. Man it is loud! Despite having the workshop manual I couldn't locate where the horn switch comes back to under the seat, or even if it does, so ran a pair of wires back to the relay that I positioned next to the battery. I also installed the compressor under the seat bridge and was also annoyed to find the hose was too short to run to the horns. I bought some fuel hose from a garden machinery shop close by (which was not cheap!) but at least it allowed me to run the hose along the side of the engine without worrying about the heat. It's good, I haven't used it in anger yet but imagine it will make babies cry and car alarms go off when I have to.
