I have 7,000 miles on my Dunlop RS III's... looks like I have a few more miles still to go.👍

 

I have not experienced any wobble issues on current or previous bikes (Kaw 1000R, 2 Buell S3's, FJ-09).  All my tires have been Dunlops.  This includes speeds up to 130 mph on the first three and 115 on the FJ.   All had OEM suspension, no steering dampeners, varying tire pressures and loads.  I weigh 165 lbs w/o gear, so on the lighter side.  Currently running RS III's on my FJ.

To say that Dunlop is the problem and switching tires is the fix would seem an oversimplification of a more complex issue IMHO. YMMV.

Picked up my red 2015 FJ-09 in August of 2015, very happy with it.

My last bike was a 2000 Buell S3 that I owned for 15 years and 40k miles... sold it after getting the FJ.

I think you're right @piotrek, I recall now reading another post something about chicks being attracted to the beak.

@henchman Sorry to hear about your encounter, I hope you are OK. It sounds like you and your bike fared better than I did, me and my bike went tumbling down the road and my bike was a total write-off.

Thanks @betoney - My bike and I are fine, and very happy to have avoided the feared "me and my bike tumbling down the road" scenario. I normally don't ride that time of day for that very reason. I've had a few close calls before, but never this close! I think the person in the oncoming lane was happy too that I didn't T-bone the deer and end up as their new hood ornament.

@henchman - Wow... that is literally a matter of inches. Glad you came out on the good side of that situation! Suffice it to say that my deer strike was a bit nastier than yours... large animals and high speed impacts are an ugly combination.  
Oh, and nice bar ends...

I'm feeling pretty blessed or lucky right about now... maybe I should hurry up and buy that winning lotto ticket? 

I removed the "bat wings" a couple weeks ago and ordered some inexpensive bar ends. They arrived today so I installed them and went for a short ride... and tagged my first deer.  
 
Doing north of 70 mph with the sun in my eyes I didn't see it until it was in front of me - didn't even have time for anything to pucker - and I felt a very light bump on the front tire as it passed.

I have never experienced this on my always garaged 2015 CA model with 12k+ miles riding in 40-95 degree weather (knocks on wood).
 
One of my Buells had a similar issue only when idling at a stop (idle = angry paint shaker) - turned out to be a bad connection inside the ignition switch. Replaced the switch, never happened again.
 
 
 
 
 

 
After more careful investigation it is clear now why I have never traversed Fish Rock Rd... it's the 5 miles of gravel.  
 
The only time I go off-road on a street machine is if I didn't execute a corner properly. (rofl)
 

Hi Brett! Santa Rosa? Now that's local. When I get out for a quick ride, it's often west of Petaluma, out to Tomales, Chileno Valley Rd., Dillon Beach, 116 to Jenner and north on 1, Skaggs Springs to Stewarts Point and down the coast, or on any number of great roads that we have in Sonoma County. I typically ride solo too, but it would be great to meet up sometime. As mentioned in a previous post, I'll have quite a bit more free time to get out during the month of July. Just let me know. You've got it.  Maybe try Fish Rock Rd... I hear it's super fun?
 

When I lived in the South Bay awhile back it was either the Santa Cruz mountains or Hwy 130 over Mt. Hamilton to The Junction for lunch, or continue on Mine Rd. to Livermore for a longer ride. 
Now it's typically either the north coast from Jenner to Stewart's Point or the Berryessa GP, depending on the temps. I rode out to Dillon Beach then down to Stinson this past Tuesday and was reminded why I more often ride to the north or east, and that is because there's just not as many people.
 
And although I prefer to ride solo, a meet up would not be out of the question.

Brett, ever done Skaggs or Fish-rock Rd? I remember them being super fun and pretty close to your area.

Used to do Skaggs more often years ago, not as much these days... and not sure if I've ever done any of Fish Rock (heard of it), although it looks like its worth a try sometime!

I recently replaced my chain/sprockets and went with an undampened front.  I haven't put many miles on it since, but I don't notice any vibration difference one way or the other.
 

 
Completed the 12k oil/filter change and replaced the drain plug with a 2016 R1 unit, then grind/file to complete. I haven't had any issues down there, just wanted a little more peace of mind.
 
 

 
 

Fast Red 2015 FJ-09 got dipped! Decided to try plasti-dip for the first time and had my brother sketch out a buncha color options on Photoshop and this is what we came up with, I'm quite happy with how it came out! Let me know what you guys/gals think, if anyones interested the colors are Army Green Camo and wheels are Copper Metallizer.  Still need to paint/switch the red side FJ-09 sticker but it doesnt look too bad either way!

I also picked up the Motion Pro PBR tool to help make things go smoothly as this was my first ever chain replacement. Very nice tool!

How did you get the rear sprocket black? I only found silver...

I was told over the phone that they had two left in black, so I got one of them.

I recently purchased a phone mount for my handlebar, and started riding with my iPhone as my GPS. It works fine for what I'm doing, and have been happy with the setup. I plug the USB cord from my iPhone into a cigarette lighter/USB adapter, and plug it into the cigarette lighter accessory on the FJ-09. 
This all seems to work fine most of the time, but more than a few times, I have been surprised by messages on my phone saying I was running out of power. A quick glance at the phone shows it is definitely not charging, so I twist the adapter and it starts charging again. Sometimes one time solves the problem, sometimes, it takes 2-3 to get the charger to keep charging.
 
Anyone else experienced this, and short of hardwiring a USB plug to my bike, any ideas on how to make this more reliable?

I had the same problem trying to keep my action cam powered.  My solution was to add a zip-tie over the top of the USB adapter, which is then run through the hole left after removing a push rivet.  it's worked for two seasons.
 
 

 
Last night after reading through this thread and the wonderful instructions a few times (thx @piotrek ) it was time to see what all the hubbub was about.
 
I began by consulting my service manual to identify the exact part and location.  Then removed all necessary bodywork and propped up tank with 2x4 wood block (3-1/2" actual lift).  I see 2 disconnected emissions hoses, no worries, stickers under tank show where things belong.  I see the APS, but there is a rollover valve in the way - more CA ONLY emission stuff - so I removed the push rivet holding it and moved it out of the way.
 
My small ratchet and 8mm socket work good enough to loosen the bolts slightly, one small move CCW and check numbers:
                    
DIAG 14: was 17/101, now 13/98
DIAG 15: was 16/100, now 13/96
 
Tightened things up, checked numbers again, all is good.
 
This morning I emptied most of a tank of gas riding to breakfast then out to and along the coast.  STD mode seemed a bit smoother, low speed drive-ability was much improved, my gear changing was smoother, take offs were smoother, and for the first time I actually enjoyed some A mode riding because it smoothed it out just enough that I could!
 
All-in-all, I would say this was probably one of the best enhancements I've done so far, especially considering the price!

So I got my first ticket on my fj? A friend and I was riding on the dragon and what do you know it a cop was waiting for me on the other side of the curve. He said he got me at 64 in a 30. Hopefully the judge will work with me on dropping it down or letting me take a driving class

My buddy got a ticket in San Francisco on his FJ, got him on radar while he was drag racing some other hooligan on their FJ doing somewhere around 70 in a 35.
 
He used some outfit advertised on the radio at the time called Ticket Crushers - it actually worked and they got the ticket dropped after a few months and under $200 if I recall correctly.  He never had to go to court in person either.
 
I was thinking about maybe using them if ever I get caught whilst drag racing some lunatic on their FJ again or... wait, what? (rofl)
 
 
 

I was about to purchase that exact model, but I saw some reviews saying that too loud, so i got for the 300mm can with carbon look.. 
But my heart was going for that one.. It's just .. On my blu race .. Oh well..

It certainly looks the business... but yea, way too loud to be practical.

You would win that bet.  The pictured exhaust has the 230mm GP muffler, and it is loud (see video).  Black Widow apparently offers many different muffler lengths and diameters so one can get the look/sound one desires.  Haven't seen any dyno's yet tho...
