  1. Also consider: worn or cupped tires, low pressures, and wind resistance from the hand guards. Do NOT underestimate cupped tires, they really do affect it! If you really want to solve it: replace the steering bearings with tapered roller bearings from Allballs or install a steering damper. -Skip Most people that are having the "normal" headshake issues are having it at speed. I think cupped tires are the likely suspect here. That is the only thing that has ever caused me any deceleration headshake on any bike I have owned. My last case the tires looked good and were balanced correctly but they had some light cupping. New front tire and everything cleared right up.
  2. Three different pictures three different bikes, They didn't just ban them at tracks across the country without reason.
  3. Here are some pictures of failures around the nut from that I could find from the past year or so. They don't look real bad but when the bike is running it is spraying out at a alarming rate.
  4. I don’t put them on that tight. It is quicker for me to grab a 17mm and loosen the filter than to use the strap wrench. I also burn myself on the header less.I went to NAPA and bought a oil filter socket that fits the OEM filter. It was only $5ish dollars and solves all the problems.
  5. The nut on the end is a huge failure point. They have been banned by most if not all trackday and racing organizations due to multiple failures over the past year or so. Some of the failures have been New filters that are not covered by the recent recall. I won't put another one on any of my bikes.
  6. I had the only local Yamaha tech I trust look this up again this morning. The new part number officially for the FJ-09 is the 5GH-13440-60-00. That being said, the 5GH-13440-50-00 and the 5GH-13440-20-00 are according to him the same filter. I managed to grab some 20's cheap off Craigslist as they are the filter used in the side by sides.
  7. I have heard there are some lawyers that take cases specifically for that area. Might be worth looking into.
  8. I am going in two weeks. I hope I don't have the same result.
  9. Has anyone found a reputable source for a PDF version? I like to use the search function and print new pages so I don't worry about messing them up.
