  1. So my bike had about 7000 miles on it when I put the slipper clutch parts on. I now have about 5000 miles (12,000 total) on the slipper clutch and still love it. Maybe I'm not as discerning as everyone else when it comes to the amount of slipping but it seems to work great and has saved my butt going into turns hard and dropping gears. The lighter clutch pull and the smooth pull shifting is all very much worth it !
  2. Curious how many miles your bike has and was your clutch ever noisy an if so did the slipper install solve it? In the past 1500 miles (now at about 11k or so mine has started sounding quite gravely/coarse, so much so that I can feel it in the frame and footpegs at light load. Trying to figure out if its the clutch basket or CCT.
  3. I took the parts list to Mike at Southbay Motorsports in Chula Vista, CA. Parts about $300 and labor only $200. It is the best $500 you can spend on an FJ09 shy of the ohlins suspension upgrades at about $1,800. Since I bought my bike used in 2015, I am a happy camper!
  4. So I just took in the parts list someone else had on the forum (Thank You) and SouthBay Motorsports in Chula Vista, CA, specifically Mike Gieke and Mechanic Nick LNU ordered the parts for about $300 bucks and install was 1.5 hrs = $503 slipper clutch on my FJ09. First ride was short but no disappointments at all, worked well, clutch pull lighter and shifting is absolutely less notchy. It can be done, it is just finding a dealer willing to actually help you out and Southbay Motorsports rocks! BTW the rubber "absorbers" were the hardest part to get. Luckily, many parts are actually the same part number as the slipper on the YZF 450 quad!
  5. Thanks, I will call them. I misplaced my first set of fasteners so I re-ordered but it arrived without any extras. I am sure I can rig something up. But on another note, it looks like the windshield can be adjusted to tilt back but I am not sure and nobody has mentioned it that I have seen. I'm going for a ride to check it out...it is Sunday. I can always work on it during the week! BTW I put the Ohlins fork 30mm internals and the Ohlins rear shock from pro-pilot suspension's Jim Kapitan. Wow what a difference. It was $1,800 shipped and set up for 220lbs (yes, Im an old motocrosser that still likes his beer!) and it feels well planted and I have not even tried new settings yet. I bought the bike used from a dealer out of WI with almost 7k miles with heated grips, bags, LEDs mounted on the lower forks. So I splurged on the suspension and installed Ohlins. The rear shock rear nut was a pain. But is you take off the rear fender and right side passenger peg mount, you can get in there with a shorty wrench. Of course it took me 3 hours and several beers to figure that out! I ride a KTM 525 EXC that I love. Had a 2006 Multistrada 1000DS (Ohlins) and never felt as good as the FJ 09. Maybe its the triple that almost feels like a two-stroke sometimes. Maybe its the lighter weight. But I sure like the FJ! Sorry about the double reply post.
  6. I got the 24" screen and put it on last night. Took a short test ride and it appears the noise of the stock screen may be gone! I noticed that the parabellum does not contact the higher stock braces with the rubber bumpers. Has anyone tried to fill that space with another rubber grommet ? The thickness of the parabellum may make the lack of contact a moot point. Just curious as to anyone's thoughts before I get in the 100mph range. Thanks, Dan
