  1. Met another fellow FJ09 rider at The Ace Cafe in downtown Orlando! We chatted for a bit. He had a new Michillin road pilot 5 rear tire. Man! That tire looks aggressive. Can't wait to put them on my bike. Still have plenty of tread on my fours. Guess I have to ride more...;-) It was nice to meet a fellow FJ09 owner. Good times!
  2. I have a medium size," Biker's Friend" bag that straps over the passenger seat. It has a Vel -Cro attached back pad. Works very well. They come in several sizes. They're round cylinder in shape and very versatile.
  3. Went for a nice ride today. Temps in the 40's. Sunny in Central Florida. Dressed appropriately. FJ09 riding an average temp of 159 degrees. With an average ambient temp of 44 degrees reading on the instrument panel. Life is good...
  4. Everyone has different opinions and different ,"Tushys". Such is life...
  5. Yes. But with my mirror extenders when I turn fully to the right it does just touch the windshield. Hasn't been an issue.
  6. As the title says These are the things I've done to achieve a comfortable ride on my 2015 FJ09; 1) The seat. This has been a journey and a costly one. As many already know, the stock seat is poor. Does Yamaha have a secret agreement with aftermarket seat companies or is Yamaha sadists? I knew immediately during the demo ride the seat had to go so I bought a Corbin seat with the bike. That seat went 6000 miles and it never broke in.So Corbin does a one time, up to one year from purchase, swap out to softer gel seat. That seat was better but I was still squirming at about 85 miles into my ride. Not acceptable. The Corbin looks great and some love them, but my butt doesn't have eyes and it just doesn't cut it for me. So... I found on this forum, "Terry's Custom seats" I sent Terry my stock seat and Terry made me a great seat that seems to have did the trick. Feels great and my butt is happy. I want to add that I also use,"MotoSkiveez" padded riding underwear. I highly recommend these. Terry's seat basically saved me from selling this bike. Thanks Terry! 2) Windshield: Stock inadequate. After using a tall Er-Max clear windshield I found out the hard way that the tall Er-max windshield acted like a magnifying glass and when out in the sun with the sun in about 7 o'clock position, slightly melted the top of my instrument panel by the right indicator. I was very bummed out about that so I ditched the Er-Max tall windshield and got a parabellum tinted windshield. Much better windshield and less buffeting. 3) Pinrest earplugs. Cuts -20db of ambient sound and reduces ear fatigue greatly. Doesn't completely cancel sound so I'm aware of things around me. 4) Mirror extenders. Absolutely the best thing I've done to the bike. More of a safety thing than comfort but worth noting. 5) Heated Grips. When I bought the FJ09 I thought why would I need heated grips in Florida? Well after my first December morning where I had to stop to warm up my hands with a cup of coffee at a 7-Eleven, I realized that not getting heated grips was a big mistake. So I waited about a few months and ordered the heated grips from my dealer and it was one of the best decisions I made for the bike. I'll never own another motorcycle without heated grips. 6) A good quality Helmet. Helmets are personal preference. Don't cheap out. Get a good quality helmet. I choose a Shuberth. I'll never own another brand. 7) Good riding gear. I have comfortable boots and riding Clothes that are functional as well as comfortable. Another item to not cheap out on. I have Helite Safety air Jacket and vest. Good equipment. Check them out on You Tube. Now I haven't changed the suspension from stock. I've set the sag where I'm happy but I realize an upgrade would be better. Maybe down the road? Also, cruise control maybe be in my future? I hoping I can get that as an upgrade when the GT comes out? Tires. On my 2nd. Set of Michelin road pilot 4's. Love them! Especially in the rain. Wear like iron and handle with extreme confidence. So that's it so far in the comfort dept for me. I hope this helps some of you... Peace...
  7. Riding the snot out of it and lovin' it!!! Just turned 28,000 miles. By the way, my seat from," Terry's custom seats" is great! After what I've been through with seats, Terry has saved me from parting ways with my FJ09.
  8. Just a note... As I'm putting on the miles Terry's seat is starting to break in for me. I'm at around 350 miles so far on the seat. I am also wearing, "MotoSkiveezs" padded underwear. It really helps with the break in period. My, "Tushy" is getting happier after every ride....
  9. Send to receive was a little over a week as Terry was just finishing up a seat before mine. I had called Terry and discussed the seat issue I was having with my Corbin in that after 85 to 100 miles I was getting uncomfortable especially on the bottom of my butt. My Corbin has the soft gel option and I had the firmer Corbin before that. The gel version was better. The Corbin looks fantastic on the FJ09 but my,"Tushy" doesn't have eyes.... Here's a couple of pics of the new Terry Custom seat.
  10. Just received my Terry custom seat. I had the driver's seat done in Pantera vinyl and had the passenger seat just recovered to match. I sent Terry pictures of me sitting on my bike and gave him my height and weight to build the seat from. The seat quality is great and it looks good on my bike. The seat is still a little firm but I've only gone about 125 miles on it so far so it still hasn't broken in yet. The whole process with Terry was smooth as silk. I couldn't be happier. Terry posted pictures of my FJ09 with the seats on his Facebook page if you want to check it out.
  11. Currently I have a Corbin with the gel set up. I had a Corbin with regular foam and for me after 6000 miles it never broke in. Did the swap out with Corbin to the gel version. Better, but still get squirmy after 100 miles. I've tried an Airhawk pad but even with that pad set up correctly it just didn't feel right. Now I'm trying a,"Motoskveez" adventure padded motorcycle underwear which just arrived at my house and im testing it out this Sunday. If that doesn't work for me I'll contact Terry and send him my stock seat and still be able to ride with my current Corbin.
  12. Did you send him your stock seat to build from? If so, did you need to send the seat mount adapter as well?
  13. Be careful with the Er-max screen (tall clear) as when I had one, when the sun was behind my bike at about 7oclock position ( that's analog for you youngun's) it slightly melted the top of my instrument panel. ? The shape of the Er-max clear windshield acted like a magnify glass. Now if I have to park in the direct sun as a precaution I keep a small hand towel in my bike and I cover the panel. Bummer.
  14. Love the PR4's. I run them 42 rear 36 front . With rain a constant daily thing in Central Florida these tires handle with total confidence. I'm on my 2nd set. They wear like iron.
  15. Rode it about 100 miles today. Starting to get a little cooler out in the early morning. FJ09 just hums along. When I need to pass, I just roll on the throttle and she responds beautifully. Such a flickable bike in the turns. Just a joy to ride. I've had this bike now for two years and no regrets whatsoever.
  16. Exhaust valves needed adjustment according to mechanic. I didn't get specific details.
  17. Had my 26,000 mile service done. Valves checked, new air filter, changed oil, new oil filter, new coolant, new brake fluid, new spark plugs, Finally replaced Clutch cable with upgraded one. Keeping the old one as an emergency spare. And a general once over. Went for a nice 120 mile ride. Runs great!
  18. Nothing... In for its first big service at the Dealers. They've had it since last Monday... :-( To quote Tom Petty," The waiting is the hardest part..."
  19. I've been really enjoying my 2015 FJ09. I have close to 24,000 miles on it now. I'm looking ahead and I'm wondering how long can I ride this bike comfortably. I'm about 5'10.5" and I can flat foot the bike but it does take some effort to swing my leg over it. Getting off as well. I like the Up right riding position and overall this bike is a great value. Fun factor is high. But... I may down the road get a Used H-D and go cruiser. In Florida there's tons of them so IMHO new is just throwing money away. If I keep the FJ09 as well that will make four bikes in the stable and I think at that point my wife will have me sleep in the stable with them...
  20. I have the same foot pad in black. Keep an eye on those Allen head bolts as they do get loose. I had to replace one already. Home Depot had them.
