I got this screen a few months ago and been meaning to add my review. I will just put it here.
Got a few thousand miles under the belt using this one now. So effectively I have forgotten what the old stock one was like. But here are my recollections. I am 5' 10 with inseam of 32 or thereabouts.
- Stock I used to use in the middle mounting position and it resulted in high frequency wind buffet and noise to my head and lot of airflow under the helmet. Low position was just all kinds of bad for me. High I do not remember.
With the Givi, it does very well for me in the lowest position. Most of the air hits the chest in a very smooth manner. There is no head buffet at all. There is still noise going 80 mph, but maybe not as bad as before, though that is very subjective and probably not accurate. I now ride with earplugs on the FJ on my long rides. Short easy rides, I do not notice anything. The Givi on the highest position becomes a flapping appendage. You can see it flexing and vibrating at high way speeds and lot of noise as well and the air was deflecting towards the upper half of the helmet. Uncomfortable and unnecessary for me.
- With wind gusts, side and frontal, the Givi seems to not be reacting to them much at all. Maybe the stock was this way as well, don't remember now. But with 20 - 40 mph gust from all kinds of angles, with reasonable tires, I have been feeling pretty secure on the bike. This is for the low position. I am sure higher will be really different. Passing semis etc have been smooth even though you can feel the buffet passing around you.
Overall I am happy and settled in the windscreen department.
PS: The screen works with the hand guards and also with mirror extenders and other more straight up mirrors by adjusting the relative plane of the handguards and the block it sits on.
