  1. I’ve had the “bike master” lithium battery on my FJ since 2018. It’s been on there for about 100k miles. No complaints. I got it from revzillla. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/bikemaster-lithium-ion-20-battery-bmp14b-fp?sku_id=10005782 it’s currently out of stock.
  2. Yes, I figured this might become a difficult part to find at some point and since it tends to fail... i'll have a spare. I'll fix the original at some point.
  3. Mine finally broke. It wasn't hard to replace. I'm going to try and "fix" the old one and use it when the new one breaks.
  4. We must have gotten lucky. Went from I5 to Idaho.
  5. We came through there in early July. Really enjoyed it. Rode across WA20 coming home. It was nice too. WA has some rough roads though.
  6. I run some Chevron stuff through a tank every once in a while. No issues.
  7. Quoted for the truth. As far as suspension goes i've never had a problem with it. That may be because i've never ridden a motorcycle with non factory or high tech suspension. Throttle issues. This was my first FI bike. She's different than a carbed bike but i got used to it.
  8. Mine did that. They replaced the seat. The second one started to do the same thing. I cut down some jeep grill poly bushings. They're bigger around and been on the seat for about 3 years with no more issues. I had a set of factory ones left over from a body lift i did. https://www.quadratec.com/p/daystar/1-radiator-support-mounts-97-06-jeep-wrangler-tj
  9. https://www.extremecreations.com.au/mt-09-fz-09-billet-clutch-basket Expensive but purrty. Price on the page is in Australian money. 360.44+ shipping in American.
  10. I looked at those vanderhalls a couple of months ago. Nice but way tooooo expensive.
  11. Remember them and the good times. Tell others every chance you get.
  12. At least twice a year I remove the innards and hand wash them. Air dry, then put it all back together.
  13. Mine’s rattled for more than 100k miles. I don’t even notice it anymore unless I happen to think of one of these threads. Nothing to worry about.
  14. I want to do this. Love the trip.
  15. For what it is, the Goldwing is a fantastic bike. She’s a big girl that can hustle and do it comfortably with the wife and a weeks worth of dirty underwear loaded up. I don’t mind the tedious maintenance items as I do as much of it possible myself. But… thank the good Lord for motorcycle communities like this. They make those tasks a lot easier.
  16. They’ve adopted the platform because it’s cheaper to produce. Not because of performance advantages. As far as parallel twins go, I’ve ridden (not owned) the r7, 07, Africa twin, and a super10 and a triumph bonneville. They didn’t do it for me.
  17. Honestly, I’m not excited at all about anything with a parallel twin.
  18. In additional to the FJ I have a 2021 Goldwing. The FJ’s air filter is a walk in the park on a beautiful June morning compared to the goldwing.
  19. I use 80w90 gear oil. Not messy and my chains “seem” to last longer than using the commercial chain lube. I’ve reused the sprocket Nutt through 5 sprocket changes. Replaced it last time for chits and giggles. I kept the old one for “just in case” times.
  20. I have a bike with CC. I don’t use cruise control in situations where adaptive cc would be advantageous. If that many cars are around I want to be in as much control of the bike as possible.
  21. No lever. No beeping. Blinking let’s you know your playing Russian roulette.
