  1. Glad to hear that you enjoy the semi-active suspension on the Gen III. On either of the previous bikes with manual suspension, did you use the oem parts or were they upgraded at all? At 210lbs did you find enough range of adjustment for preload on the stock shock or is the spring at its limit?
  2. I agree, even though I have very nicely set up suspension I will occasionally still make minor tweaks depending on the scenario, especially on the shock. A click or two +/- can make a big difference in comfort or control depending if I'm on a long highway stretch or in tighter canyon twisties. The FJR and Super Tenere models with ES have a few basic settings and then several settings for fine tuning. I haven't heard a whole lot on the Tracers electronic suspension but I'm just not sure that only 2 generic settings would cover all bases, though without riding the newer Gen 3 I could be completely wrong.
  3. I wish the Silver/Blue color combination was available in NA. Maybe in 2025???
  4. With the 2024 models becoming available, Yamaha is 4 model years into their electronic suspension on the Tracer. I am interested in real-world opinions on actual performance, especially from those who may have previously had a Tracer with upgraded standard (manual) suspension. What are your thoughts, pro's or con's? Do you regret it or is it an improvement? As @Wintersdark has recently mentioned, the MT10SP has the electronic Ohlins suspension which is fully adjustable while the Tracer has 2 settings. As someone who has always had custom suspension and the ability to adjust to my liking, would the Tracers 2 settings be a limitation or disappointment? Has anyone had to change springs? Any and all comments and discussions are welcome.
  5. In North America, Yamaha didn't release a 2023 model, so the only thing we have to compare is 2022 and 2024 models which are GT vs. GT+. We also don't get the lower spec Tracer, we only got the GT for '21-'22 and the GT+ for 2024 (I believe Europe gets 3 different Tracer models). To the best of my knowledge if its a + model then it gets the adaptive cruise control, radar-linked unified braking system, new larger TFT screen and handlebar switchgear (plus other electronic upgrades). Some countries may have released that version as a 2023 model. It gets confusing when discussing this bike on an international forum as North America got an FJ09 for '15-'17 while the rest of the world called it an MT09 Tracer, the FZ09 got renamed to MT09 and the FJ09 became the Tracer, we didn't get a 2018 model at all while the rest of the world got a base Tracer and GT model, in 2019 we got a Tracer and GT like the rest of the world and then from 2020 we only got the GT until this new GT+ for 2024.
  6. On the dash you quickly press the Reset button and the tripmeter will flash, then hold the reset button for a second and it will zero it out.
  7. In fairness it simply proves that it didn't happen to you in your attempt to recreate the scenario, not that it can't happen or that others offering advice don't know what they are talking about. Who is to say that someone else couldn't have an issue when trying the same starting procedure?
  8. I was going to suggest the exact same as @RaYzerman Key on, hold throttle open, crank for about 10-15 seconds, repeat if necessary. When it finally turns over, let the bike run until it completely warms up.
  9. It would be the thread pitch size of the bar inserts you are using. I got rid of the factory hand guards and I replaced the original handlebars with Rizoma bars and bar end weights from an FZ1 so I'm not sure of the thread pitch for the oem parts.
  10. '15-'17 FJ-09 had heated grips available as an option. Tracer GT models came with heated grips as standard equipment.
  11. 10% ethanol is still 10% regardless of octane rating. I usually use premium (91 octane here) Shell, Chevron or Exxon and the pump usually advertises detergents or cleaning agents. In the cold months when I ride less and the bike sits more often, I use Non-Ethanol or E0 but its always a no-name brand fuel and there is never any mention of additives or cleaning agents, though I have no clue whether those detergents actually do anything for carbon build-up.
  12. In recent months my 2015 FJ had starting holding at 2500rpm when coming to a stop about 3-4 times during every ride but would usually drop to normal idle after 10 seconds. After reading about this procedure, I tried it this morning and went for a ride for several hours, I was happy to discover that the high idle didn't occur once today. 👍🏻
  13. Yes, KFG Motorsports was my go-to suspension shop for many years, they did phenomenal work. Sadly, it looks like I will need to go out of state now.
  14. With Norwest Suspension no longer available the choices are getting slimmer, I guess my nearest option is EDR Performance.
  15. I am in the exact same situation in Western Washington, the shop that I have used for many years has gone out of business and this year my suspension is due for servicing. - I usually get mine serviced every 20,000 miles. @oregonian -my local Yamaha shop also recommended EDR Performance, I will give them a call. I hate the thought of mailing my suspension but the place I used in the past was only about 30 minutes away, EDR performance is a 3 hour drive each away depending on Portland traffic. Another option is Norwest Suspension in Idaho. https://www.norwestsuspension.com/
  16. My buddy just got the same ‘22 model in Oregon for that price OTD. Oregon doesn’t have a state sales tax so $12,000 was the final price.
  17. While it must be torture not to be able to ride your new bike, the good news (sort of) is you have all winter ahead of you to heal up and eventually wrench on the bike a bit before the 2024 riding season.
  18. That's really interesting, I have had the Penske 8983 shock on 2 different bikes, current FJ09 and previous FZ1 and the remote wasn't offered as an option and I had both shocks custom built. That's great that they now offer that as an option, the Penske is an AWESOME shock. ***EDIT*** Looking at Penske's own website, the 8983 does NOT offer remote Preload adjustment, it has a remote canister to separate the nitrogen from the oil but the preload adjustment is manual with an adjustment tool.
  19. FWIW, the Penske and K-Tech shocks offer ride height adjustment but no remote preload adjuster while the Ohlins and Hyperpro shocks offer remote preload adjustment but no ride height adjustment. Nitron shocks are available with BOTH.
  20. Most of the popular aftermarket risers are 1" up and 1" back and the cables will fit fine but if you are expecting to add an additional 3" of height you might be pushing your luck with the stock cables.
  21. I agree with this 100%. 120hp/75lbft torque would be perfect for me in any normal everyday riding scenario that I could imagine. Every review you read or watch nowadays always reference a bike “not measuring up” to the latest super bike or “only making xxxHp” if it’s anything less than 190. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  22. Agreed, of all of the footage I have seen from EICMA, this bike seems to be generating the most buzz. I have a feeling that this new GX might steal a lot of sales from their own GT model.
  23. The GSX-S1000GT+ could have (should have) arrived with more features since it is marketed as a sport tourer but both the GT+ and GX+ have cruise control, the new GX+ does indeed have an IMU with all of the cornering/safety technology. This video goes into detail on ALL of the features on the new GX+.
  24. Not on the GT but its available on the GX+ According to the Suzuki website, both the side bags and centerstand come standard on the new GX+ Heated grips are still an optional purchase.
