  1. My math tells me its a 16HP increase over bone stock @ 103HP... So its 15.5% increase in power... Bout $100 per 1% increase in power... Exhaust was $1050 Woolich Race Kit was $450 2wdw services was $250
  2. Nice!! Thats with the Graves exhaust?Yes and its used with Woolich Race Kit instead of FlashTune...
  3. Just broke the news to my bike its ECU is on its ways back from 2wdw...Nels worked his magic and hit 119HP!!!!! Yeaaa 119HP to the rear wheel ? Stock is 103HP to the rear wheel ?
  4. I was able to do it all from the front thru the radiator opening after I got it to drop far enough, i used the Graves plates and the AIS is disabled via SCU ... already had the tank off to pull ECU...
  5. As a teen I watched Ricky Carmichael, Ryan Villopoto, Chad Reed, Kevin Windham, James Stewart, Nick Wey, and a few others who are still racing today 16yrs later!!! I can still recall the time James Stewart was the only one on a 2 stroke in his class just dominating the brand shiny new 4 strokes...That was the end of the 2 stroke era and the start of 4 stroke era...
  6. I just found out this morning the Motocross Of Nations 2018 (MXoN) will be held at none other than RRRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDBBBBBBBBBUUUUUUUUUUUDDDDDD!!! Ya know Redbud ?, last 3yrs I have gone to Redbud during 4th of July weekend to watch the outdoor AMA MX series and the night races ?... now I get the chance to see what is basically the best of the best in motocross duel in my backyard, well a short 2.5hr drive away...
  7. Thats close to Buckeye Land ? Just kidding...I live just north of Grand Rapids...I spend alot of time riding around Grand Traverse, tunnle of trees, made a nice detour just near end of fall up to Detour Michigan on my little FZ-07... I also got a WR250F I use for the trails, mainly Cedar Creek when it's nice and muddy ? This year I will be doing all road trips on the FJ-09
  8. I signed up for a track day from Fox PowerSports outta Grand Rapids... Foxpowerblog.com/shop/ Im going on June 2nd @ Grattan in the novice class... This will be my first time ever running on a track...I have done a few motos in Motocross over the years for fun and have put many laps in at the US 131 dragstrip on my FZ-07( fastest pass was on a 25°F day running 1/8 mile only @ 7.83 sec from 2nd gear start ?)... I havent decided which bike im using yet, either the FZ-07 or the FJ-09... Currently leaning towards the FZ-07, its a 380# bundle of torque ?
  9. Here is the first edition I seen of a specific yoshi exhaust for the FJ, had to go back alost 2yrs of postings to find this... http://shop.yoshimura-jp.com/en/product/syousai.php?id=16657... high mount, old style, probably be in the way of saddle bags..
  10. Rode my FZ-07, the FJ is still waiting on the ECU... These virgin Q3 tires on the -07 need to be broken in...why cant they ship the tires already broken in ?
  11. Broke the news to my bike she will be getting her ECU back next week if the weather is good for dyno tuning... I'm getting excited to hear the Graves Exhaust I got bolted on and I'm really curious to see how the Woolich Race Kit stacks up against the other flash tunes because the Woolich system disables the closed loop fueling ?, hopefully that blasted ECO mode gets "tuned out", had plenty of adventures tuning my FZ-07 only to learn the hard way that ECO mode fuel table is piece of work that will defeat a fuel tuner device, had to have my PCV ignore the entire ECO mode range so I could tune my FZ-07... Woolich Race Kit is basicly a Quickshifter that works on up shifts, auto blipping on downshifts and 2 step Launch Control...nice little piece of technology ?
  12. Im not a big fan of wheelies in what i consider when one rides thru traffic on one wheel with 5 go pros on...im talking like when the front wheel gets about knee high hitting high speed bumpy fire roads on my dirt bike, thats a wheelie to me, it feels controlled and doesn't catch me off guard...does it happen on my 2 roads bikes? sure if i hit the train crossing bump in town at the right speed it will loft the front wheel knee high, thats a wheelie in my book... Your best way to learn is on a used 250F sized dirt bike...they can take abuse of learning to wheelie mistakes and the dirt is soft compared to the Thors Hammer hardness of the asphalt... As for technique, there are one too many ways to accomplish that...
  13. I brought my Givi handguards from ModuleMoto.co.UK and they are the shettiest company I ever done business with...they never update website if products is outta stock, nor do they tell you after your order is placed it's outta stock, took me 7 emails to try to get no response but I had to sic PayPal on em and sure enough they finally respond within hrs because I wanted my money back after 3 weeks of no responses, they sent em out the next day but offered no apologies or anything... Avoid ModuleMoto.co.UK ....
  14. My first choice was Arrow Exhaust, i love how it meshes with the bike but with Graves in 2nd place...after talking to Nels at 2wdw he told me they make almost identical power and curves but the Arrow had to run unbaffled and the Graves had same power rather it was baffled or not...hmmm i must be getting old at 31 ? to say i will take the exhaust system that makes less noise for same power...also it was really helpful that 2wdw has its own FZ-09 with a Graves Exhaust system that Nels can build a tune for the Woolich Race Kit... the Woolich Race kit works pretty darn good with the stock exhaust map he created for the FJ-09 that I ran with for about month and a half(1,500miles) before winter reared it's ugly head... Now what can we do about the big ole airbox... I would love to have an airbox like the one Hordpower crafted for the FZ-07 that I use...
  15. I removed my center stand pretty much immediately because I was dragging it, especially when I had a passenger. When I installed the M4 slip-on, I had to cut off part of the stopper to give the can clearance. If I hadn't already done so, I'd have had to have done it yesterday when installing the Yoshimura system. I repeatedly find myself thinking of the point you just made: Why couldn't they have put the stopper on the chain side? One of the first mods many people make on any bike is the exhaust. Why put that stopper where it is and make exhausts that would otherwise be interchangeable with the FZ non-compatible with the FJ? I've been a loyal Yamaha fan for 20+ years. I don't want to believe that their engineers are that short-sighted. Im not peeved or annoyed by any means...i know from enough experience wenching and building drag cars nothing is simply bolt on, some slight work may involved but the next guy or gal thinks " bolt on" means totaly the opposite...some ppl may not feel comfortable doing such things... I even had to switch exhaust header pipes with left and right side on my FZ-07 even after i followed the instructions 15+ times for my LeoVince exhaust, the directions were wrong ?... I cannot blame Yamaha for the center stand stopper location because it's hard to find a happy medium that suits every brand or style of exhaust or shape of exhuast can... Bottom line is I'm still super happy I got this exhaust and cannot wait to hear it when my ECU comes back and I feel the slight modifications I did where purely to prevent pre mature wear and tear on such a beautiful piece of work...
  16. @piotrek I don't think it's needed for everyone but gotta remember the fz-09 has no center stand...it fits but the clearances were a little to close to comfort for me...the amount I clipped off the center stand stopper was probably 3mm...maybe a diffrent FJ-09 has a little more room... I would rather clip a little metal off than buy a new exhaust can when the center stand stop puts a little hole in my can...now I got a finger width gap around the exhaust can where it exits behind the foot rest and around the senterstand stop...would have not been an issue if center stand stop was on chain side or if Yamaha had the stopper closer to the foot rest or if I had a sponsor to buy me new stuff when I needed it ?
  17. Yes I'm surprised they allow pornograhpy on here ?... I wanna say the plastic cover should have been one of the " blacked out" nudie magazines mailing covers... today after work this morning I was able to check it out more and had to make 2 very very minor modifications due to center stand since the fz-09 has none... first was the bumper stop on the center stand bottom right side which slightly hit the exhaust can when up and the 2nd modification was to toe nail clip the actual center stand stop... I used a big heavy hammer to pound the bumper stop on the center stand over to the right a bit...
  18. Installed the exhaust...it was the easiest 20min mod I ever done, thats pulling the stock 12ton tumor, trick have the center stand down, to putting the new one on.... big thanks to Graves for having the for sight to pre assemble the exhaust headers to slip right in the stock location with out any fuss...once again I cannot believe how light it is and how much care went into crafting this piece of art, the welders and engineers at work had nothing but high high praise for how BEAUTIFUL and near perfect the welds are, like 99.9% perfect in my book... I also learned that the baffle makes no diffrence in HP/TQ rather it's in or out, so fuel mapping is the same for both, that's how an exhaust can supposed to work...now just gotta wait for Nels @ 2wdw to return the ECU from his laboratory, right now the exhaust is so loud you cannot hear it ?
  19. Got some shiny objects in the mail...ECU is still at 2wdw so Nels can make a tune for the Graves Exhaust w/ Woolich Race Kit... I am having Nels go thru all the features such as upshift, downshift and launch control so it turns the FJ-09( or FZ-09) into the FJ-35 ?... Yes the exhaust came pre-assembled like its showing in the picture!!!!, even the carbon can was in its own custom Styrofoam shell!!! The best quality control to ensure the parts dont get damaged in shipment i ever seen... I do not wanna take the exhaust pipes out of the sealed packed yet as the ECU is still at 2wdw... The heaviest part is the carbon fiber can, weighs bout much as a 2 liter of pop ( soda pop for you Californians ?) and the headers are light as a feather!!! The welds are so pornographic they censored em!!! all the ends and fittings i see are all precision machine fit... Hardly any obvious signs of the tube bending machine doing it job which tells me the tooling is well kept up on... I will install it in the next couple weeks or if my ECU comes back before i get around to installing the exhaust...You all know that as soon as you install a nee exhaust system you wanna hear it!! But i need my ECU to start the bike ?... and before I even put the exhaust on I already pulled the baffle... good thing I did, they used ppppllllleeeennnnnttttyyyy of locite to hold the bolt in, looked like a crime scene with that much red ... Any questions or other pictures, feel free to ask...
  20. In my attempt to get out from the unneeded Overtime by not working the weekend did not go according to plan... I got the weekend off but totally forgot to grab my box with my ECU and QS off my desk ? since i got out the door so fast like 6th gear pinned fast! Just in case they changed they minds about OT, to send to Nels at 2wdw so he can make a tune for a FJ/FZ-09 with Woolich Race Kit and Graves Exhaust... Im also curious to see if disabling the " closed-loop " fueling aka ECO mode( Woolich QS plugs into stock o2 connection on bike wire harness, hence the closed loop being disabled) compares to the current listed Graves Exhuast dyno graph on 2wdw vendor page... I have no problems with the Woolich Race Kit, I love having the extra features the system provides such as the Auto-Blip on clutchless down shifts, the clutchless upshifts and the secret weapon ? Launch Control ?... I used this set up on the stock exhaust and had Nels put the stock flash tune on it and i put 2k miles on it in the last 2 months before winter hit with hardly no complaints only 2 very very minor things that could tweaked that i cam recall... Now i just gotta wait till monday morn to send Nels his new project and then wait for the day the ECU and my new shiny Graves Exhaust show up on my door step ?... Till then i will take my time installing my Givi windshield that arrived a few days ago...
  21. Pulled the ECU and QS for round 2 with 2WDW... The 1st round i had 2WDW flash my ECU with Woolich race systems presets for the QS, downshift auto blipper and Launch Control to see how it works with the FJ/FZ-09 bikes and had the stock exhaust FJ-09 flash tune installed...Now its being reflashed for Graves Exhaust and the actual dyno tuning will be done on the 2WDW FZ-09 test bike which also has the Graves Exhaust on it, also round 2 will further refine the preset settings to work with the FZ/FJ-09 motors...
  22. Went out to the garage, pulled the blanket off the bike to break the news I'm gonna be pulling the ECU for a labotomy and giving her a new set of vocal cords by Graves... the bike didn't even care, just sat there in total silence while we listened to the city snow plow trucks run around the neighborhood...
  23. Having a saddle on your horse is like having launch control and horse shoes are the QS/ and auto blipper...
  24. Yeah, honestly my FJ-09 shifts so smoothly OOTB, I can't imagine gaining $300 - $400 worth of value from this swap. But then again, I'm not on the front straight of VIR banging down through the gears going into turn one. Then....I might want it. This kit I got from Woolich Racing is very close in price for just buying a QS, so it's worth the tiny extra cost to have auto-blipper and launch control ?( which I may use a few times) I mainly use the QS since I spoiled myself using one on my FZ-07... I'm not trying to derail the thread or anything or start a debate...
  25. I have followed this thread for a bit and come to the conclusion my FJ-09 needs no slipper/assist clutch but I will admit I did plan on doing this mod over winter...The reasons I decided not to are it's butter smooth over my FZ-07 after learning not to shift it like my FZ-07 and its now even smoother thanks to my QS and auto-blipper!! ? upgrades to the ECU...
