  1. Frozen wastelands of the barren north.... Whitehorse, Yukon Territory
  2. dude.... I was right there with you until that beak showed up...... LOL....
  3. Yep, the pics of your bike nice and dirty, have been some of my inspiration for this project! Right on! It is a great "any/all road" scooter, and it is no stump jumper or log crossers.
  4. Been there, done that..... https://fj-09.org/thread/1814/dust-dawson-troll-adventuring-alaska
  5. I know I'm old and feeble... but I still gotta ask... Why? I'm having enough trouble with tire wear already...
  6. Sorry mcaanda... I just couldn't resist... but you know the deal... no pictures, it didn't happen
  7. Installed an Evotech Performance http://www.evotech-performance.com/mt-09-tracer-abs/yamaha-mt-09-tracer-abs-radiator-guard-2015-onwards radiator guard. It is a very nice, well made product and what I like is that it covers the side tanks as well as the core. It is a bit time consuming to install in that one must remove the side fairings to install. It attaches to the sides of the radiator side tanks. The website has an installation link that shows it pretty well. I purchased it from http://www.motostarz.ca/ http://i.imgur.com/GNsAmnz.jpg http://i.imgur.com/0rrzi50.jpg
  8. I ordered a large Cali Sci and it arrived without any attachment hardware. I had to wait for a while to receive the hardware kit. A couple of e-mails to Cali Sci got the kit coming. Put about 200km behind it so far and am happy with the coverage. It has stayed solid at >160kph.
  9. Ahh. That must have been caused by lensing of sunlight through the windshield. It may be that the Ermax's shape and the refraction rate of the material was enough, with the sun at just the right angle, to create a good focus. I've never seen anything like that, crazy. I think you are right jimf about the "lensing" through the windshield... some of the Super Tenere owners had a similar heating and deforming of plastics in a focus area behind the windshield. Solved this by draping some type of cover over the windshield. One could also change the orientation of the bike to the mid day high radiation of the sun.
  10. But losing 2.3kg would require at least three weeks of discipline and no wine or beer...And sustaining the weight reduction... well I'm just sayin....
  11. Boy, this modern scooter ownership is sure demanding! First you have to read everybody else's ideas, opinions and interesting purchases. Then one has to find all these cool things in the country of ownership or pay through the nose... Then you have to put all this cool stuff on your scooter... whew... I'm toooo tired to ride. Installed Yamaha lowering links and lowered the fork tubes in the triple clamps, Kouba mirror extenders, and fabed up a side stand foot. http://i.imgur.com/eAdgys8.jpg http://i.imgur.com/23OyuYK.jpg http://i.imgur.com/LqkspjM.jpg
  12. Gotta throw in props for Koubalink as well, very prompt service, no hassle purchase, nice extenders, fit like they belong to the bike.
  13. Sidi Gore-Tex Canyons for the last 25,000km. As Cruizin has already said... awesome boot, on and off the bike and very dry in wet weather. Very well made boot.
  14. http://i.imgur.com/LDtKkFC.jpg put on my old Shock Sox from the Tenere and the picture shows the Fender Extender that I installed the other day
  15. Installed my OEM heated grips this afternoon. I did this install on my Super Tenere a few years ago so knew it before starting. Used ULEWZ's awesome "how to" as a refresher - very good write-up and photos.
  16. http://i.imgur.com/9tZH5lh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/FbAmiNy.jpg I got to know the bike a bit... first day with it at the house. I am really short - 28 5/8" pants inseam and could not tip toe both sides of the bike with the low seat in the low position... My Super Tenere was the same... so I pulled the adjusting tray out from under the seat and cut the seat bumpers down to lower the seat as much as possible. The bumpers sit directly on the frame now. I have also ordered the Yamaha lowering links that drop the rear suspension 15mm. Then I installed the D&G hugger which ought to help keep things a bit cleaner. Also installed a Fenda Extenda on the front fender. Tommorow the OEM heated grips will go on... If I don't go skiing... it is still early spring here.
  17. If it is a legal copy I'm in for $10...
