Speaking of shop manuals, do we have an PDf file on this forum?

Hey there - message me with your email address and I will sort you out re: shop manual.

Also, are you in Hamilton, ON? If so, did you buy your bike at Kelly's?

    Cheers

Ride365 is on point. It seems that you'll need only plastics and minor stuff because the frame looks good, engine looks good... I'd repair it and probably keep it though I'm biased as I'm still in the honeymoon phase with my T9GT+:)
Worse case scenario trade it for something else, after repaired.
The new Kwacks look good (to me) and comfy which is probably the only 4 cylinder I'd buy at this point.

Depending on where the impact occurred, you may never know if the frame is slightly twisted or tweaked...which wouldn't be visible to the naked eye.

I have the LED+ signal lights installed. They double as daylight driving lights, so always 3 lights on in front and back.

Those are sweet. Unfortunately they are "un-obtanium" here in North America 🙂

Ok, for the record all of those pics are wrong.

The recall installs a black plastic cover on the Oxygen sensor plug - but at the wiring harness side, which is then wrapped up and blended into the harness with tape. The cover prevents tons of water from running INTO the connector and then causing corrosion. It’s only protected at the top because the lower part of the connector (sensor side) still needs to be open to allow moisture to run out if it gets in.

The connector is located under the fairing panel. Follow the sensor lead up under the panel and then you would find it.
I’ll try to get a photo tomorrow.

    Thanks Skip

I wondered about that as the sensor at the exhaust looks the same for those who have had the work done and those who haven't.

    Makes sense...thanks for the clarity!

On the O2 sensor recall how do I visually confirm this has been done? I found the full write up of M2023-007R and it states:

    "
Yamaha will notify owners by mail and instruct you to take your motorcycle to a dealer to have the oxygen sensor coupler terminals inspected and if any terminals are found corroded, the oxygen sensor and main wire harness assembly will be replaced with a main wire harness assembly of a different design; if the terminals are not found corroded, a CONNECTOR COVER will be installed over the existing oxygen sensor coupler"

Since this is a new bike there's not going to be any corrosion so where do I look for this cover? Can't find any pics of this related to the recall. I assume it's somewhere down here:Yamaha_Tracer9GT-PIR-Statics-JosephAgust

Can you send a pic of the O2 sensor on the other side of the bike? I have had the work done and will confirm if it looks likes mine.

If corrosion is found during the inspection, then a new wiring harness has to be approved by Yamaha and ordered for each bike.

Almost all bikes will probably just get the cover and some tape. wiring harness replacements will be rare.

    Agreed.

Although, there were enough complaints/reports of it that it justified a recall/service bulletin.

Personally, I appreciate that Yamaha recognizes and remediates issues. Some see it as a lack of quality,, but let's be real - every vehicle manufacturer has issues - some (like VW) like to hide them for as long as possible and let their customers foot the bill.

Got my two recall letters also, this makes 4 recalls…I had mentioned to the service manager at my dealer about losing engine braking in lower gears after the first reflash and I got the “never heard of that” answer. Well here it is now how about that? And I know, can’t fix anything until the letter(s) come out lol.

After getting the latest reflash, I would say that the engine braking is back!

I got both recall letters yesterday.  Of course, I just had my bike in for service last month and asked about the recall but just got quizzical looks and a shrug. Cmon, you can’t keep up with your own product?   I’m sure it’s because they are waiting for the official word from Yamaha, so that they get paid.

To be fair, my dealer here in Canada often only finds out when the public do...for both new product launches and updates like this. Often times, I am telling him stuff he has only just found out about himself or hasn't heard yet!

    That's a Yamaha Corporate thing.

I received my safety recall letter yesterday-- letter only specifies the ECU reflash. Wonder if other US owners are getting these now and doing the recall?

I'm not sure I'll take mine in since I had my ECU flashed for performance enhancements. I can always get my ECU reflashed by Vcyclenut but seems more hassle and time to just satisfy the recall.

Unless you're worried about warranty, I would leave the Vcyclenut flash in place and ignore the recall.

Yes ECU is pretty much the same as MT-09. Both are under the tank, on the air filter. Just a few more layers of plastic to pull off. I used this MT-09 video to get an idea.

I also checked my air filter while I was there and just needed a quick shake and clean. As for the ECU flashes, luckily I have 2 in the area...2 wheel dyno works and Vcyclenut. I chose Vcyclenut as he provided real world testing on his MT-09 including charts and other variables like exhaust and air filter improvements. https://www.vcyclenut.com/2021---23-mt09--tracer-gt2022-xsr900.html

A world of improvement when you flash your ECU and if you have upgraded your exhaust. Much more refined throttle in 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears instead and overall smoothness in all the ranges.

Good luck on your ECU flash and let us know how it goes!

How many miles on your bike @robzilla?

I'm asking as I am thinking about cleaning my air filter as well.

I checked the recall list by VIN and just the old recalls from 2021 showed up.

Interesting. My dealer told it me it was separate one.

This line in the recall makes it sound like it's a second one.

Note: This recall replaces recall M22-014 (Transport Canada Recall No. 2022-099). Vehicles that received a software update under that recall also require this repair.

    Maybe it's a Canada-only recall.

Heard nothing about these in Kalifornia after having my ‘21 reflashed & new throttle tube last year.
Gawd I really dislike speedmonkey techs working on my bikes (I’m an ex-motorbike wrench & know what goes on, plus recent mistakes found). Oh well gotta do it if it comes here.

Just to confirm, the ECU flash that I posted above is a new one, in addition to the one you had done previously.

I also wish there was a "less-premium" version offered.  Just like the Kawasaki Versys 1000, the Tracer is offered in 3 versions or trim levels in Europe, at least in North America we only get the top spec models -$$$.  I also don't need ACC and am still on the fence about semi-active suspension as well, my "bare bones" original 2015 model performs pretty damn good with aftermarket suspension and cruise control.

The suspension on my GT is awesome. Leaps and bounds ahead of my 2019. Overall, it's a much improved handling bike over the previous model I had.
