  1. we've got covered parking so I just stick my bikes in front of the truck and cover them up, disc lock, and lock them together with a huge chain. it's not too big of an issue actually. if someone wanted to steal them they'd need to get through the big chain locking them together at minimum and then yank somebody's vehicle out with (won't be mine as I keep my parking brake on fully) or somehow pick the bikes up and carry them out between two cars. and at that point they can have the damn bikes LOL.
  2. you were in my neighborhood. text me next time you make it out here if you want a buddy to ride with. I'll pm you my number
  3. generate a one time use card number and make sure it's a credit card.. what do you have to lose? LOL.
  4. got my 2015 fastest red back yesterday.. ohlins shock installed, fork internals swapped to GSXR 1000 internals with R6 fork caps, and bark busters added. this is a brand new bike! pictures soon...
  5. he's an ex-racer who mostly works on race bikes but has done a couple of MT09's. I'll update you all after it's done
  6. you're near me! let's go for a ride, I'll show you around the sierra nevada mountains this spring/summer.
  7. after spoiling my DR650 (carb, shock, forks, steel braided lines in the past 2 months), I decided to pull the trigger on an ohlins shock for the FJ09. I met an awesome guy in town who used to race motorcycles and now operates his own shop out of his garage. He's going to pull the internals out of a GSXR fork and make them fit in the FJ09 fork for an awesome suspension set up here in the next couple of weeks.
  8. +1, take it on the trip and then flip it for double what you paid. Or sell the FJ and then buy an MT09/XSR900!
  9. yeah the idle rattle is pretty normal, albeit jarring. mine shakes a ton when it's cold out
  10. enjoy the fastest red 2015! I'm on my second 2015 and it's my favorite generation, easy to work on and easy to make perfect with some suspension upgrades and an ECU flash.
  11. you guys are crazy! I think the coldest I've ever ridden in was 32F/0C
  12. I think everyone here, including myself, would advocate for another Tracer. And me personally, I'd recommend another 2015, LOL! But this is a great time to be shopping for a new sport touring bike, lots of options out there that weren't available 8 years ago (can't believe my FJ09 is already that old, I got my first 2015 FJ09 in 2016 and it felt brand new). The new GSXR specifically looks pretty nice.
  13. noooo! sorry to hear that man. glad that you're alright, you can always buy another bike worst case scenario.
  14. not the best pic but first ride of 2022 to grab a breakfast bagel yesterday. now the countdown starts for the passes to start opening up... usually around june.
  15. amazing and inspiring me to get out there and ride more. only 12500 on my 2015 fastest red
  16. always thankful for an early December ride. meant to ride down to Sonora Pass but got a late start. wound up turning around in Minden and going through Virginia City instead. pics are on NV-341, the Virginia City Highway truck bypass
  17. speaking of Lake Tahoe, one of my favorite pics from the riding season attached. getting the itch to ride again after 2 months straight of flight simulator
  18. and here I was thinking I was mildly crazy for planning on continuing to ride in Reno through the winter. Props to you!
  19. as everyone else has already said, oil pan is a big weak point of the bike. one of the lowest points of the bike is the oil drain screw.
  20. always difficult to decide which one to take out (CBR isnt mine). Went with the DR650 yesterday and did a 70 mile off-road loop through the desert and mountains. Decided to take the FJ09 today and flew up to Virginia City
