  1. Yamaha part no. 1RC-F11D0-T0 GTYR Yamaha Genuine Part. Says FZ-09 but fit my FJ-09, too. Instructions on back of parts page and all parts included. Bought these just after purchase and realized I wanted actual crash bars. Only on for a few weeks and never "used". They may fit other years, but as they're not on the accessories page any longer, I'm not positive. Originally over $200 (gotta love OEM, right?) I'll take $75 plus shipping to CONUS. Prefer PayPal +3%. Ride Safe.
  2. I know it's been a while since you posted, but I have a '17 FJ-09 with under 2,000 miles that I'd like to breath on a bit. Do you have a reference to who flashed yours? I'm looking at a Black Widow 300mm exhaust.
  3. I have a 2017 FJ-09 that I'd like to keep and have to sell. Adding this would add significantly to the "keep" column on the tally sheet. How did you like it?
  4. Where did you get those, please? I like the description of what they do.
  5. I went with these barkbusters. Easy replacement and much better fit/stability than stock on my '17 FJ-09. https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/barkbusters-vps-handguard-kit-yamaha-fj-09-fz-09-xsr900
  6. I have the barkbusters and they're top notch. They have a set with a bit larger profile as it has two pieces. Not as Space Ghost looking as the original kit on my 2017 FJ-09, but very effective and a more secure mount. You have to completely remove the originals to mount the barkbusters, but it's worth it. Out of stock now (8.16.23) but here they are: https://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/barkbusters-vps-handguard-kit-yamaha-fj-09-fz-09-xsr900
  7. I've been using the Aerostich Kanetsu electric vest for a couple years now and love it. Simple, one-button switch. Doesn't get too hot (I tend to be warm) but you can certainly feel it working. Wire it in with a 10amp fuse on a Fuzeblock and you're good to go. I use a Quickconnect or coaxial connector from Aerostich instead of the SAE connector and put a rubber cap over the female port tucked under the instrument cluster when it's not in use. Aerostich sells lots of wiring options. From my painful experience - DO NOT try to use the cigarette lighter adapter as it's only fused to 3amps. Blows instantly and then you've got to pull everything off to change of the fuse.
  8. I've used the Mosko Moto 40L and 30L bags duffles. The 40L is outstanding. The 30L is just great. The 40L has features I've used time and again, including my favorite - a tent pole sleeve located under the top flat. You don't need Mosko Moto's special straps. Just a couple RokStraps. The bags are built bulletproof and water tight. Even after a few thousand miles, they look like new. The 40L has rollup openings on each short end. The 30L has a rollup opening along the top. Both are outstanding quality. They're pricey, no doubt, but can be found for sale pretty often on the ADVrider forum. That's where I got my 30L for about 1/2 price of new.
  9. Sorry to be so late to this, but in case you've not found anything, SIGG fuel bottles (usually sold for camp stove fuel at places like REI, etc.) are perfect for fuel. Red in color, 1Litre in size. Many pannier sets, particularly soft kits, have molle patches that'll take a bottle holder. I've also seen folks craft bottle brackets to mount on aluminum panniers.
  10. That is an outstanding observation, PhotoAI. I'm mounting rotopax on my S10 (don't go that far afield on my FJ-09). I'm now going to check side exposure tolerances. Thank you.
  11. Has anyone tried to set up an FJ-09 / Tracer with ADV kit?  New tires, raised bars, upgrade suspension, etc.?  I have a Super Tenere I love, and I did some pretty serious off-roading with it earlier this year in WV, but it's just a beast. I love the engine on my 2017 FJ-09 but I'm afraid it's not geared for anything like slow grunt work in even mildly soggy terrain.

  12. Great advice. Thank you. Now to shop for a shop. I have a guy that's been working on my bikes for years, so I'll start with him. I've never tweaked suspension before, but I love the engine on the FJ-09 and I want to have it perform as well as possible. Thanks!
  13. I have a '17 FJ-09 that I'd love to tweak a bit. In addition to the referenced shock, what's the communal thinking on the best plug and play front suspension upgrade. I'm pretty adept, but not a lot of suspension tuning experience. Thanks in advance!
  14. I have a 2017 FJ-09 and I switched to a Sargent very soon after purchase for obvious reasons. It's much better, but not as nice (for me) as the Seat Concepts I have on my 2019 Super Tenere. Seat Concepts doesn't make seats for the FJ-09 any longer, so I'm looking for a Corbin. New price is a bit much, but maybe someone here has one to trade or sell? My Sargent two-piece is black with blue piping (it's the Super Tenere blue but it looks good on my FJ-09, as well.)
  15. Yesterday, but maybe it still counts. Barkbuster's installed and then my Christmas Present - Hippo Hands (Rogue model). Had to move stuff around on the bars a bit, but worth it. Went for a 20 min ride in 51F at speeds up to 70mph with vented summer gloves. Didn't feel a thing. Pretty dope. Have a Happy New Year!
  16. About a year ago, Aerostich sold a mixed set of ear pro for a great price. Finally getting around to trying them out on an upcoming trip to Gander, Newfoundland.
  17. Thank you. Rode into work today, I'll check it out. Tom
  18. Thank you. The more information the better. I'll check with Yamaha or local shop to see if they can tell by VIN. Appreciate all the feedback. Tom
  19. Thank you! I'd heard 7,500 miles, but that's not going to an issue 'cause it only has about 1200 miles on it. I'm also looking for a way to find out if it's California compliant. Tom
  20. I have a 2017 FJ-09 that I'm thinking of selling, and an inmate from ADV forum wonders if it's California compliant (He's thinking of a fly and ride from CA to PA to CA). I've been looking for an emissions rating plate or label and not having any luck. Someone mentioned a "canister" that would have the information. So, a few questions come to mind: Are all 2017 FJ-09's California compliant? Are there different emission ratings for different builds of the 2017? Is there an emissions label? If so, where is it? Thanks in advance. Tom D.
  21. Thanks to Warchild and Piotek. Proceeding cautiously. On reflection, I'll just take the tank off (ordered service manual) and run a 16ga wire from my fuseblock under the seat.
  22. Thank you. The draw on the vest is 3.3 amps. I have both of the accessory ports installed so I think I'll try a 5amp fuse on the left port (easiest reach with the coiled cord and the cigarette lighter plug) and see if that works. Leave the 2amp for the right port for GPS/Phone charging. Probably hard wire the GPS to the third plug behind the dash, as I think about it.
