I do also have a touring set up. 26" Parabellum windscreen. It is definitely more likely to buffet, but also has the best wind protection, by a huge amount. Almost no wind in your face at all. I ride with the smaller Powerbronze set up 95% of the time, usually with the soft saddle bags for storage.

Here is what I liked best. Shorty Powerbronze. It is from the UK, I believe (it was a gift). Zero issues with buffeting now. Lots more wind but I like that. Removing the handguards helped too.

I am running Michelin Road 5 and tried 30F/32R yesterday. It does work but turn-in feels a bit sluggish. I went to 33F/36R to see if that makes turn-in a bit more precise. Again, no luggage and I weigh 195-200# with gear.

Maybe starter gear popping back in to place? It is pretty faint. Just get a louder exhaust! 😄

I run Michelin Road 5s and typically run 34 front and 39 rear. Has good feel and turn in. I am 195 with gear on. No load on the bike at all.

Leave the chain on during tire changes. At this point, just order a new chain and link.

Finally got to change out the big orange pumpkins and 3 lb license plate mount. I like the new look. I did have to put some large resistors in parallel with the signal wires to make the blinker flash at the proper rate. Also lost my front driving lights being on all of the time (not that I care).

I am just over 6' tall and weigh 195#.

I have the smaller Powerbronze screen from the UK. So far, I like it best. No buffeting. The larger one is a Parabellum 26" I believe. Great to get behind in winter time but I get moved around a lot on the freeway with traffic. Buffeting with the bigger screen is definitely an issue. It is nice to get out of the wind tho on rides where I am away from traffic. Right now I am running it with no handguards and the mini Powerbronze screen (last pic). Welcome Patrick! I am out in Issaquah and have a 2015 FJ09, as well. You are welcome to come out and check out the mods I have done. I have done quite a bit other than exhaust/tune. I have 3 windscreens, heated grips, rear case, soft side cases, drain plug, EBC HH pads, Sargent seat. I did switch the stock tires out for Michelin road 5 tires. I have front and rear stands too if you need to change tires. I have it set up like the last pic right now (minimalist). You are welcome to come check things out any time. Most of my riding is away from the city, but I enjoy quick rides in the local area. Lots of fun roads near me. Some of the mods I am still planning are the suspension (front and rear) and maybe a pipe. - Scott

Looks like a pro install. Nice work! I can see that this is on my "to do" list now. Maybe we can talk Yamaha into adding this to the list for updates on the next generation FJ.

Has anyone else had a problem with the rear brake light switch not turning on consistently and/or staying on all the time? I have tried many times to adjust and it seems to never work just right. All my other bikes have no problems in this area. Maybe it is time to get a new switch? It acts like it has a mind of its own.

Best mod I have done yet. Mini windscreen and removed handguards. Solved all my wind issues. No more buffetting on the freeway, much cooler, better air flow. The bike actually handles better too. Front end feel is great now. More flickable side to side. Screen is made by Powerbronze.

I am sure you know the seat and windscreen are adjustable in height (with no tools!) Nice ride! Enjoy. Here is mine.

Here is my setup. I can carry my laptop and safely store helmets and jacket when parked. No risk of rain/water getting in. Yamaha 50L rear case and rear rack. Works great for getting groceries too! It was easy to re-core/key and match it up with the ignition key. When you want it off, it slides right off and hangs on the wall in the shop. Very slick design. Pics show with and without cases. I use the soft saddlebags if I need more storage on a weekend trip. They are great alone too if you need a smaller amount of storage for a day trip.
