  1. 64 in a 30 zone wouldnt that be the same % over as doing 128 in a 60 zone It's incredibly easy to do those speeds on an FJ on the dragon. It's very difficult to keep the speeds under the ever lowering speed limit on the dragon. I find myself looking through the corners and throttle on to weight the back wheel for more traction and stability. If you aren't staring at your speedo, the FJ will get you up over 60 before you realize it, especially coming out of a turn onto a short straight. The dragon is still worth doing once but it's fame has ruined it IMHO.
  2. Thank you. I made it a sticky so it would stay at the top.
  3. The dealer I took it too just scheduled it and did it as if it was warranty.
  4. To the extent my title of "Guy On The Internet" allows me to say, I understand it as only if they can prove the APE caused the issue can they use that as a reason to deny a warranty claim.
  5. Called my dealer to check. They called it a recall as well. They are ordering the part. I've not noticed any rattling myself but I figured I would get it in and taken care of.
  6. Looks like a couple members need to look at rules number 7 and 11. http://fj-09.org/thread/511/rules-posting-read Don't me mean. Don't be a jerk. Pretty simple. Why do I even need to say this to two grown men? Alright, now tell us what you did to your FJ today?
  7. While that is a nice feature bank cards almost always draw funds from your balance and it takes some period of time for the funds to be restored to the balance after fraud is detected. Whereas with a credit card I've never been out a penny for even a day the four or five times fraudulent charges have showed up on them. I've been out a card, while on vacation, that had automatic payments for services like netflix set up on it, and used for booking the hotel, the rental car. Had to go back and change all those services, the hotel booking down at the desk, the rental car on return. Even though I wasn't out any money, I was out my main card and had to deal with a bunch of crap while on vacation. At the time, I only had the main one with a high credit limit and a secondary with a very low limit. That being said, I never use a debit card because they have all the same risks of being stolen but don't have the same consumer protection laws. I don't even carry it with me. Plus, why would I when the credit card companies practically pay me to use their card with cash back?
  8. Thanks for posting that picture. I love the way the bike looks with the FJR bags. I was at the dealer today for my breakin maintenance and priced out the 2014 FJR bags. I must admit I was a bit shocked at the price but yutahey, you only life once. Now I just have to wait for this years tax refund. Thanks again everyone. Keep an eye on eBay. You may be surprised one day by a good deal.
  9. true. I just prefer the mounting hardware and ability to key all the bags to the ignition. I'm willing to pay a premium for that. If I remember, there wasn't too much of a price difference anyway. Even if there was, I'm happy with my choice.
  10. A couple things. You need the FJ-09 lower mounts, just as you would for the city bags. The only difference between the bags are the lids. They mount the exact same way as the city bags that are marketed for the FJ-09. Yamaha only discontinued the unpainted FJR bags. The painted ones can still be purchased new. You will also need a lock set. They make a kit that allows you to rekey the locks to the ignition as well if you would like to. Everything is sold separately.
  11. Don't worry, I don't think he was referring to you. I think he was referring to this post: Quite interesting. As a musician, it makes me want to do this mod as a subtle wink to music. Just a tiny bit. It still goes against my policy of advertising for free though. And, I'd have to explain it to everyone except for you.
  12. Nice, I wish I was getting off work that early. They have me working a ton of hours right now.
  13. Thank you. I had to get the top box and back rest from Canada. I went to yamahagenuineparts.com . The top box and the back rest are both Yamaha parts, I just couldn't find them from a dealer in the US. The top case mounts directly to the yamaha rear rack. All 3 bags have been keyed to the ignition as well. All the bags quick release from the bike. I'm pretty happy with the setup.
  14. Been a few days since I did it, but I got my bags installed. Had to repaint some FJR bags since they don't sell the unpainted anymore.
  15. So, you're saying you can no longer order the yamaha FJR sidebags? If so, that sucks. After a week or so of research I just decided to go with that option for the FJ9. I'll try to order through a few dealers this week and see what they say.To clarify, you can no longer order the "unpainted" FJR bags. The unpainted match the Matte Grey color really well as it is black plastic. All the painted ones are gloss coat so they do not go well with the matte paint. As far as I know, you can still order the painted ones that match the red bike. Yamaha's only out to screw the Matte Grey FJ-09 riders. Lol.
  16. It has been well established that Yamaha has accessory delivery issues. I found some used FJR bags on eBay. I plan to repaint them matte to match the bike. I could probably get them professionally painted at a body shop and still be money ahead.
  17. Hello, are you sure that a helmet can fit in fjr bags? From what I have read, they are not big enough xcsp beat me to it. I can't confirm yet from experience but I will be able to soon. I just bought some FJR bags off eBay. Everything I've read says the FJR bags will fit a helmet. The FJ-09 city bags will not.
  18. My bag plan has now blown up in my face and I'm not sure what I plan to do. None of the painted bags look right with the matte grey and I was really looking forward to having everything keyed to the ignition and being able to fit helmets in the side case. I also don't like the plumbing required for the aftermarket bags... Grr... > I should have just spent the money up front instead of waiting. This is what I get for being "responsible".
  19. Sadly, I can't find them on ebay either.
  20. I used 2 layers of electrical tape for insulation being very careful to make it even. I didn't bother with glue. It's on there very solid without it. I used alcohol to help get the grip on. If it loosens up, I'll glue it. It's still a little uneven heat. The colder it is outside the more uneven it is.
  21. Don't worry. Now the whole internet knows! Lol. in all seriousness, it's common to kill a bike at least once when you are still getting used to it (or just not paying attention to it)
  22. That's quite interesting. In another thread, many people were complaining they got worse gas mileage in B mode, which I know is counter intuitive. I've personally not stuck with a single mode through a full tank yet so I can't say one way or another.
  23. I've had the downshifting issue on just about every bike I've ridden. Quite scary when the light turns green just as you come to a stop and cars are barreling up behind you. You have to lightly feather the clutch just enough to get the transmission turning but not enough to drive the wheel. Ok, back to the original topic. I would definitely try what wessie suggested first. It's a simple fix that has worked for others in the past. Theoretically it could be the shift shaft but I think the chances are much slimmer than the pedal.
