  1. This happened again tonight, 2nd time. Bike is only 6 months old. It cranks over normally (not a slow crank) I don't think it's a low voltage issue. I'm a 20+ year high end automotive dealer tech (master in my brand). I completely understand low cranking voltage issues. It cranks over normally, but just cranks and sputters for 5-6+ seconds. Seems to be software related in my opinion. My '06 R1, '07 FZ1, '17 FZ-10 or '13 R1 has never done this....
  2. I inserted the key, turned it, then hit the start button as I've always done. No diversion from the norm. I just wanted to see if anyone else had this issue, and maybe it's a known one that's software related. It's a one off occurrence at this point, I'm not too worried about it.
  3. I have 6500 miles on the bike. 100% stock. 30 miles since last fill up. 68F ambient. This morning it started right up as usual, rode my 30 mile commute to work with no issues. This evening, get to the bike, go to start it and it just cranked for a good 4 seconds without starting. Hit the start button again, cranked and sputtered. Hit the start button a 3rd time while giving a little bit of throttle and it sputtered and then fired up normally. No CEL or anything. It has always (and all of my other FI Yamahas) started right up immediately without issue. Anyone else experience this or weird anomaly?
  4. No, the guys I went with do this ride every year and they were saying that the last several years there hasn't been a guard. Flew right on through
  5. Very nice. Needless to say, nobody likes you haha. Did you do Nacimiento-Fergusson Rd? Yep! Right through Fort Hunter Liggett and onto Paso Robles.
  6. Admin finger hovering over the “delete post: for causing unnecessary distress to other forum members” button.. (rofl)
  7. Then you're really going to hate me! This weekend 5 other gents and myself took a thousand mile jaunt through central CA on mostly back country, not very well known roads up to Monterey. Then back down the PCH for a bit, then a few other back country roads on the way down. Hows that for winter riding??
  8. Damn......nearly 4 year old bike sitting there this whole time? Just waiting for a home and to be ridden It's like....
  9. Nice! Today I actually took the gooGT to my sportbike suspension tuner, who I trust to set up my track bike and my FZ10. And wow did it make a noticable difference after it was tuned to my weight, night and day. He has an early FJ as his commuter and he was interested in riding it to feel the difference. He liked the longer swing arm and all the added trinkets of the new model! I then proceeded to go for a nice spirited ride through some southern California countryside roads at 70F in the middle of Nov! Sorry, don't hate
  10. That is pretty much my experience with it too. I will add though, at under 70mph. It's MUCH improved in the high setting. So if you're putting along on back country roads, you will love it compared to the stock screen. With the stock screen you can start to feel the buffeting and noise as slow as 35mph. So there's that I was hoping it would be better over 80 because that's what my commute consists of generally, but I'll accept it over a barn door screen.
  11. Also, maybe this thread should be moved to the Tracer 900 sub section?
  12. So I finally found an MRA dealer here in the states that carries the 2019 touring screen and ordered it last week. Threw it on this morning. On my 30 mile commute at 80+mph I can say that the airflow is now cleaner, but still hits in the helmet so it's still noisy. I wear earplugs so it's doable. I found my head wasn't being pulverized anymore. SO it's an improvement, but it's not perfect. I'll keep it and get a shorty too. The best part of it to me is the looks. I think it looks pretty good on there compared to the stocker.
  13. Just a PSA. Since all 3 of my bikes take the same oil filter, I usually buy several at a time. I found this place has the OEM filters for $7.77US. Or buy a ten pack for $7.10 a piece. https://www.partsvu.com/yamaha-f15-f25-f40-f50-f60-f70-outboard-oil-filter-5gh-13440-60-00-5gh-13440-50-00.html
  14. Good eye! I should have known that ‘motorcycle people’ would also be ‘dog people’ Glad to hear he's doing good! I have been pet free since 2010 when my chocolate passed at 14 I just recently have been wanting to get another one. When they go, it's pretty rough when they're such a big part of the family for so long. Took me a long time to "get over" him and willing to put myself through that again. He was an amazing companion.
