  1. Put new tires on the Tracer 900 GT and was cleaning all the parts before reassembly. The collar that fits into the center of the sprocket carrier would not go back in. I tried to be certain it was perfectly straight and level before insertion but no luck after quite a bit of trying. It has always been a very close fit but normally will go in after a couple tries. Not this time. Put the collar in the freezer for a few minutes and it dropped right in. Just wondering if anyone else had the same experience? Photo to show the part in question.
  2. Good grief.......that's a great deal for a nicely turned out Tracer. Should sell quickly.
  3. It is difficult at best to extract any more power from this motor. Even a good ECU flash gives minor gains with a full exhaust. For me, it has plenty of power for anything you would want to do on public roads. I had my ECU flashed to get smoother throttle response. The best place to spend your money on this bike is suspension upgrades which will pay dividends with every ride.
  4. You can get metal pads that attach to the foot of the stand which will decrease the lean angle a bit. Very easy to install. Amazon has many. Amazon.com : Sidestand pad yamaha tracer
  5. The Tracer will have all the performance you will ever need for the street and will likely be far more reliable and cheaper to own.
  6. Mine does the same but it's not really a problem as long as your wheel alignment and chain slack are good.
  7. From your comment it sounds like yours may need to be aimed properly. If they are aligned correctly, it can make a big difference.
  8. The Pit Bull products are very versatile and will last for decades as well. I also have a Kawasaki and the front stand works perfectly for both bikes by just swapping the pins.
  9. I have good luck with Pit Bull. I use their front stand which has a pin that fits into the hole at the base of the lower fork brace. Have to put it on the Pit Bull rear stand first. Good products. Had mine for 20 years and they work well. Very solidly built. Be sure to get the correct size pin for your bike if you buy the Pit Bull.
  10. The primary purpose of the crush washer is to deform or "crush" slightly when the proper amount of torque is applied to the drain plug bolt, in order to protect the threads of the oil pan from stripping. Once used, it loses some of the ability to deform again. Can you reuse them......yes you can but they will not perform their intended task properly. When you can purchase a package of them for cheap at the auto parts store, why risk a stripped oil pan, which is a real headache.
  11. You obviously have some great twisty roads near you and ride them often. In this case, wearing out the sides first is not unusual. I have some good roads near my home as well and wear the sides ahead of the center. I hate the way the front feels once the tire is worn in this manner, but it's normal when riding mostly twisty roads. Your tire also appears to have a bit of scalloping. For what it is worth I have had the same, but to a lesser degree when running the Dunlops. According to a friend of mine the Roadsmart 4 does not wear like this, and that will probably be the next tire I try on my Tracer.
  12. Considering the upgrades that is a good price. If I did not already have one, I would be looking closely at this bike. Good luck with the sale.
  13. Welcome to the forum. I am in Scott county, between Georgetown and Frankfort Kentucky. Where in the state do you reside? Like you I used to ride sport bikes, and I also participated in track days. My body no longer tolerates the sport bike riding position very well, so I switched to light weight sport tourers. The Tracer GT provides more than enough sporty performance for the street while fulfilling my occasional long distance road trip. Great bike!!
  14. I am using this one on my 2019 and it also fits the 2020. Tucks neatly under the bike the same as the stock exhaust. I left the baffle in as I did not want my bike to be too loud. Akrapovic Yamaha FZ-09 / MT-09 2014-2020 Racing Line Titanium Full Exhaust (sportbiketrackgear.com)
  15. Thanks for sharing. I am sure there are plenty of members here who were curious as to how far one can go on reserve. Myself included.
  16. Feels good when you can work on your own bike and solve issues like this. Glad you found the problem and have the bike running as it should!
  17. You can mix tire brands but I would not recommend doing so. The manufacturers design the front and rear to work together, especially in the wet. I have a set of the Rosso 4 on my Ninja 1000 which is a bit heavier than the Tracer. They are an excellent tire, with more than enough grip for anything you will be doing on the street and would also work as a track day tire up to a pretty fast intermediate group pace. The feel from the front tire inspires confidence on corner entry and there is more than enough drive grip off the corner for getting back on the throttle early. Have not yet ridden them in the wet. So far, they appear to be wearing well. Only 600 miles on them right now but like them as much or more than any other sport tire I have tried.
  18. I had the same issue. Changing my body position by hanging off a bit helped, but during aggressive cornering I was still scraping the pegs. I was at 32 mm of sag loaded. I finally gave in and spent the money for suspension upgrades. No more pegs dragging and much improved handling.
  19. Not certain but I think one of the screws is fixed and not to be turned while the others are adjusted to match. Someone correct me if this is wrong.
  20. Add me to the list that feels extra horsepower does not always justify a higher price in an ST bike. Heck, the power of my 2019 is more than enough for it's intended purpose, even when I am hunting apexes.
  21. A bit of slack is normal. Mine came with the bike and yes, there is a bit of room for them to move around but once loaded and on the bike, they are very secure.
  22. I have a Nelson Rigg tail bag that sits on the passenger seat. That is where I keep anything I might need such as tools, a tire repair kit and small inflator, water, rags, zip ties etc. That stays on the bike at all times and is perfect for going out for the day. I only put the cases on for trips when I will be gone overnight or for several days, and that is where I keep clothes and other items that I will not be needing to access while on the road. The cases come with me into the hotel or B&B and are easy to unload / load off the bike.
  23. We have a lot of riders come down from the Cincinnati area to ride the roads in north central Kentucky.
