  1. 35 male, rural ontario, clean record 2015 fj-09 500 collision, 1000$ comp deductibles, 1M$ liability, additional accident benefits, 880$/yr (wawanesa) 180 day mexico insurance policy - 265$USD 2002 BMW M3 1000$ deductible, full coverage, 1150$ a year 2009 Mazda 5 liability only, 1000$ deductible, 800$ a year in canada, accident benefits is what makes insurance expensive. lots of soccer moms hurt themselves in the 5 so insurance is expensive
  2. haha there’s a photo in this post here:
  3. thanks! bike is completely stock including seat and suspension minus rizoma indicators, a flip plate, and crash guards (which i put to use during a parking mishap) i had one shad case and two duffle bags strapped to the bike (one clothes, one camping gear). unfortunately UPS lost my 2nd shad case last year
  4. i wanted to give a big shoutout to this forum, which i used a fair bit as a resource on this trip (mostly searching old threads) the FJ held up great, in the end there were no mechanical failures, just 3 oil changes, two chain adjustments (and one replacement) and new tires in houston (michelin road 5's) i set lots of personal records on this trip, including my longest ever single day ride (760 miles from st louis to toronto) thanks everyone!
  5. thanks very much everyone, i picked up a 27mm socket at autozone and a breaker bar at walmart. i struggled a bit with my bikes (cheap, aftermarket) adjusters (installed by the previous owner) and ran out of daylight, but i should be good to go after a final check in the morning. i'll return the breaker bar to walmart, as carrying around a 4lb tool that's available at every auto parts store in the world is completely unnecessary, but i think i might suck it up and leave the socket in the boot.
  6. thanks for the advice but i dont have the skill to balance a tire machine on the back of my bike. maybe with a few more years riding experience.
  7. I’m on a lenthy trip from my home in northern ontario to mexico, with a stop in florida. my chain has gotten quite loose and i’d like to adjust it, unfortunately at the motorcycle rally in panama city all the harley guys laughed at my strange sized axle nut. i’d hate to buy the tools and have to leave them somewhere as i dont have room to take them with me. can anyone help me out? i’m currently in panama city but will be riding south across the state to the keys. please and thank you
