  1. It was not popular when I had my last bike. Now it seems to be everywhere... Do you do it for proof in an accident? a YouTube channel? As always, thanks in advance RexDangerVest
  2. If you watch enough of his stuff he explains it all. In one of the ones I put a link for he even gives some ranges. If you get there (static set and rider within his guidelines you are close) and probably wont need springs. We both will. If you watch some more and learn about the zip tie on the front fork that will help a lot. Like others have said it will still be trial and error. Besides weight, some are sportier riders and will need/prefer a stiffer setup. Others will not. In some he even gives it as a percentage (not specific mm) so you can look in the manual and do the math... As for a suspension shop... that sucks. BUT Even your dealer can install a new rear shock, or replace front springs and or cartridges. It will be the specialist on the phone/web that will help you choose what parts. Then all the dealer has to do is install them. Not ideal but doable. The rest is trial and error. The best part is that once you start adjusting you will be COMPELLED to go for another and another ride till you find just the right adjustment. Near any of the rear shocks that people have listed here in other threads will work better than stock as long as you give them your weight. I would start there. i bet you like the improvement so much you will immediately want to work on the front..
  3. There is no way the stock Suspension (new GT or ANY Other stock motorcycle) is ready for a 300lb rider... No matter how you adjust it. It may feel fine, but if you had the appropriate springs for your (Our) weight it would feel even better and certainly be safer. You just dont know because you have not experienced it. Go to youtube and search out Dave Moss. He has several different channels I believe. A good place to start is Two Clicks Out. If you watch a bunch of them you will learn what to look for and how to get it. And he will tell you why it is unsafe without the proper setup. Here are some I have saved. Just keep watching and watching and then it will click. And NO, you do not need to join anything, just watch all the free stuff. Of course, if you can afford it. Pay up, I bet he is worth it.   4. Winter, Did you upgrade your springs/shocks at all? Have you tested static and rider sag? I am going to buy in the spring (currently 300lbs, but expect to be 250lbs by then) and I am already researching my upgrades... I believe the setup on the bike is for someone lighter than us. Each time I have visited a dealer and sat on a bike there was near zero static sag. So they must have really cranked in the preload. Rex
  5. DL the Google Offline maps App (unsure if they have it for Apple) once you DL the areas YOU determine over WIFI all you need is the GPS signal. I will never use anything else. I do not look at it in the car... Why would I look at it while riding? I just let her voice tell me the way. While listening to my music. and one voice command (Hey Google, directions home) and I am on my way. I will be setting up a wireless charger on a holder (still researching) and I will always be charged and ready to go!
