Had a wee chat with the suspension guy that did my k-tech kit. I'll try his suggestions tomorrow. The tyres may have a slightly different profile to the originals which may throw it out slightly. It sounds to me like the weight is coming off the front so I would try adding some additional preload on the rear maybe 1 to 2 turns. You can also take 1 or two turn off the front preload. I'll update after testing.

Speaking of old metal signs etc. I forgot about this one from when I was camping at Cadwell Park the other week...

Aye, I'm pretty sure it's that. I'll go by a bike shop tomorrow and see if they can check the front wheel balance for me.

Stick on ones. The tyre guy , that is all he does, and he knows his stuff, he mainly does bikes. I reckon it's out of balance though, but why it only shows up on hard acceleration at 70-80 + is the mystery to me.

Hiya lads n lassies. Interested to see/hear the responses to this slight 'issue'.... I just got new Michelin Pilot Road 5's fitted front and rear. And the grip and feel from them is superb, I am absolutely delighted with the handling of the bike and the grip levels and feedback. BUT When , the first time I rode with them, when accelerating hard, when the bike got to around 80-90 the front end started pattering or chattering, I dont know how else to describe it, almost like the feeling of the abs kicking in, regular sort of pulsing from the front wheel, like it is skimming the road like it's gone light on the front end. It doesn't get worse, it is constant. SO I checked the pressures, 38 front 46 rear. Put them down to 35 front 38 rear. Rode again. And it was a wee bit better, but still, accelerating hard, when I hit around 80 and onwards, the same front end chattering. I suspect the front wheel balance (although there are new weights on it) , but I'm interested to hear what you all think it might be. Cheers, Stew

Now that is a quality farkle. I'd do mine, but , well, I am ham-fisted, and would end up with an unreadable dash.

Aye, I had a tiny bit of front end chatter at around 3 figure speeds (kph obviously officer) , and checked the pressures when I got home. They were at 38/48 So now at 34/38, to see how much even betterer they will feel. There is clear feedback, and that's all I care about, as I ride from the feeling in my backside and toes, and I can feel the bike under me with these, whereas the dunlop's were just awful. Speaking to my tyre guy, he said some people rave about the Dunlop Sportsmax, and others hate them, so they are clearly suited to certain types of rider more than others.

3.5k on those horrible Dunlop Sportsmax things and they were fit for the bin. I was glad to get rid of them. If I can get 3.5k on the rear before it starts squaring off I'll be deleriously happy.

Bliss. MIchelin Road Pilot 5's. Just back from putting 50 gentle miles on them to get them 'scrubbed in'. First impressions, much more feel than the Dunlop Sportsmax, smoother and lighter turn in, more grip under hard front braking. Lovely.

We had a real downpour yesterday, so I went out for a ride today expecting a few damp patches and the likes. Anyway, the roads were bone dry and the loch totally placid on 'my' side of the loch, so I got a bit carried away and went round the 'dark side' of the loch. Wheee! Soaking wet, gravel and mud and wet leaves all over the place, potholes, tight bends under trees so constant shade. The waterfall is normally just a wee trickle this time of year, to give you some idea of how wet it had just been. And I rode along at a decent speed, smiling and comfortable and feeling pretty secure. All because of the new suspension. What a difference in the feedback from the bike in conditions that on the same tyres before the new suspension I would have been nervous and tentative. I had one of the most relaxing rides in a long time, in the most unexpected and lovely of places. There is no more 'dark side' of the loch, only the other side
