  1. Ive spent many hours fixing the OEM seat on my 2019 Tracer . Its amazing how a company can supply such a crappy uncomfortable seat . As I said ,many hours of cutting, shapping of a new slab of memory foam . Then cover ,test , remove reshap, add a sliver of foam here and there untill Ive got a seat that will do 200-300kms without loosing my bum to The Numb Bum Gods . I have the tools and the skills to do this ,,,so I did it. Dont tell anybody but ...... I made a sand mould of my butt and used this to get the exact shape I neaded for comfort (using needle template guages ). Other than the dodgy seat, lousy screen ,dangerous footpegs, and hard to find side stand, Yamaha made a great bike . My picture shows the new foam being reshaped on the underside after a test ride . And the finished seat .It tool a few long rides to get the seat settled into my backside ,but NO foreward slopping anymore , more padding at the rear latch and Yamaha `Half Rubbers` on base to get the lower seat setting . I still have the OEM foam, so that if I ever update my bike to a 2022/23 I have the foam to fit ,just remove replace foams.....
  2. Thanks for your reply to this Odd Problem on modern bikes . I live in a back country area and need that high beam to be high , to see roads and kangaroos etc . I have tried this adjustment method ,and it works well for daytime riding . Im still working on a complete fix for my Tracer ! Im am getting to a stage in my life when dodging roo`s and sheep will make night time riding a thing of the past for me .
  3. Im in the Albury area ,the only annoying thing Ive found re lock-downs, was Victoria border crossings closures , other than that its Business as Usual .,,,riding my pants off . I put some Conti TKC 70 tyres on ,just to use some hundreds of KM of NSW back country gravel roads . Nothing wrong with OEM tyres (only 5K ) ,but I feel a bit safer on TKC70`s Whilst Im on here , has anybody looked at modifying the headlights on a 2019 Tracer 900 ? I hate the stupid single lowbeam light a lot of bikes have now , looks like a blown globe . I had a Copper pull me over to tell me I had a blown globe . I had to show him my Handbook , and explain or i would have gotten a defect ? Anybody tried a modification ,I think I did one to a 1050 Tiger I had , it was a Kit ?
  4. TKC70 , very good and gives you that SAFE feeling on dirt . I travel a lot of gravel and rough back roads ,the road up hill to my farm house needed a bit more grip and certainty . Conti TKC70 did just that, as they had done on a 1200 Super Tenere and 650 Tenere I had. Good tyres ,a bit expensive , but quality is needed for that added confidence on gravel . I've fitted a Nissan sump plug , half the height of original , but wasn't necessary on the 2019 models ?
  5. I don't need tyres yet OEM`s are still fine but do a fair bit of gravel roads and the half mile up into my property is gravel. I've ordered Conti TKC70 ,they worked well on my 1200 Super Ten and 650 Tenere `s. Noise isn't a problem as my bike has a bloody noisy engine noise that's consistent with later Tracer 900`s. I may see if there is a post on this 3-5 gear engine noise . Yamaha says she`s fine ,so she is fine . earplugs fix every thing
  6. Its not snatchy IMHO . Try changing modes , don't use Sports mode in traffic conditions . Great bike ,when one fixes the screen and seat/saddle
  7. That yellow stuff would be Canola (used in margarines and cooking oils ) ,or daisy weeds used for nothing .
  8. Cruise control Throttle lock . I was going to fit the Kaoka unit ,but their very expensive, so Ive retro fitted a Break Away throttle lock I had . Works fine with the Mirror extension arms ,on RH one I drilled through to fix/hold the horizontal holding arm .
  9. Two more shots to show finished seat . To recap ,I used a Super Tenere seats foam (a new 2018 model ) ,cutting the foam from underneath using old electric carving knife blade (it cuts only on back stroke) . It looks a bit rough but a few minutes with a 40grit sanding block and its fine and will never be seen . It took (this time ), three vinyl cover removals to get it right , and for my butt,,, to fit . Its not clear, but in the pics the finished seat reassess slightly on both sides I also used a Super Ten method of dropping the seat backwards a tad , using half sized rubber pads underneath and no pads at the back ,just a piece of flat rubber on rear legs . I do need to adjust the main seat latch so as there is no up and down movement . I do have a bit of Oil Canning in the seat and I refitted the water proofing membrane I left out on past fixes. First pic I've fitted most of the cover and stappled it secure ,with a hard corner pull (and heat gun ), being done to finish the job. Second pic. Finished seat , with just a few staples to be removed and aligned to look professional. -
  10. I have at last made me a comfortable Tracer seat . I thought I had it right ,but a long ride told me different . It took three (3) more vinyl cover removals and some backside(bum), moulding and foam trimming ,its very good now. Going from the OEM vinyl covered building / house brick to this tailored seat of mine was worth the effort . And I enjoyed doing it . I have ALL the upholstery gear and skills ,so that makes it easier as well . I just tried to upload a few pics ,but it says .....You are only allowed to upload 1,003.52kB. So you don't get to see my near new Super Tenere seat foam getting cut and shaped to my butt contours ,plus the mess in my family room and the finished seat . And you definitely wont see me sitting butt naked on a large tray of damp sand !!!
  11. !0,000km and use full synthetic Yamalube oil . Simple
  12. Im so used to the sit up position of my old Tenere and Super Tenere Tigers etc . I had a supplier in Northern Australia so a bit cheaper than US . Its good ,took it for a run last night before dusk .
  13. Wheels are good , black matt is so bland, as this French graphics is so expensive I may just do the front and side (under seat ), panels in a matching matt crystal white . I have some samples off ebay and Im looking at getting some second hand damaged panels to wrap ? Two Pack painting is also expensive ,even though Im a qualified auto/aircraft refinisher (spraypainter),paints dear
  14. Just on the subject of Graphics, I came across this little beauty . Graphics from France . Very costly and the picture is of a early model Tracer . https://www.idgrafix.fr/en/yamaha-mt-09-tracer-after-2018/1770-kit-decoration-red-gp-edition-yamaha-mt-09-tracer.html?#/option_stripe_wheels-yes But I love it ,my bikes black .
  15. Helibar handle bar risers , very expensive but they fit . ebay Chinese ones I bought went into scrap metal bin ,didn't fit and had corrosion marks , .
  16. Try this person/supplier . jkemotors@gmail.com. Just email him ,PayPal about $10 and download the OEM manual .
  17. Seat A sore butt on a long ride can take the fun out of riding this great bike . And the seat that comes with it,, is crap . Unless your doing Off Road ,then do your suspension . For general riding ,just fiddle with the front and rear shock adjusters . I got my suspension just fine and have now made myself a nice comfy seat . Don't get the OEM comfort seat .look at Bagster or a good (very good) upholsterer . Get rid of the seat foam and get some high quality memory foam shaped and fitted . I use the foam from a near new Super Tenere seat I had . A bit of shaping , fixing ,hot air gun and I got the original seat cover back on (pneumatic stapler ) Good luck
  18. I bought the Chinese double bubble screen ,but sent it back ,it wasn't any better than OEM standard I must admit it was very fast post from China, a great price and looked good ,to short for me . One thing I've changed on my screen is the PLASTIC flat head attaching screws . One head broke off when fitting a temporary screen to my Tracer ,just imagine at 150 kmh I wouldn't want that to happen to the other three . High quality SS in black have been refitted . Im going for A Givi high screen in Light Smoke , but they are out of stock in Italy and the US are far to expensive by 100 bucks .
  19. Love the graphics and silver side panels . Light look great Oh well, more money to spend ,Im going to 3M the side panels silver of Crystal White . But I do like your graphics and ideas .
  20. Great story , I bet it was fun ,Tracer is very capable . I spend a lot of km on dirt country roads, some are better than the tar roads Most of the good roads around here are dirt, some are graded and nice ,others a tad rough . I may upgrade tyres to Conti TK70 , but unless its wet and sloppy the OEM Dunlop's are fine on dirt so far .
  21. Im thinking of doing my side panels ,. My bike is matt black and doing the four panels will enhance its appearance and make it more visible . It wont be expensive or hard to do . The cost of Tracer 900 decals might be costly
  22. Mine are in the post ,paid for and Im just waiting . Just remember they are just a crash bar not nessesaryly a engine protection . And they aren't a Roll Over cage ,but you will loose your side flasher in a fall ( now that's a good idea if you have daggy looking OEM flashers)
  23. Mat Black all over with blue trim . I will Vinyl Wrap front panels and side panels in a Crystal White wrap one day ,make it a bit more visible and give it some character .
