  1. I use setting B the first few weeks of riding season, to reacquaint myself with the power delivery and throttle response. I would use it in rainy weather but I choose to not ride in the rain instead. I normally ride in STD mode the rest of the time, maybe used setting A a few times and didn't really like the jerkiness of it. I'm only at 5840 miles...
  2. +1 for "looks normal to me" as my OEM tire is mounted identically.
  3. Hopping on that saddle requires making a conscious choice knowing full well the risks you're about to take. This is even more true on a new bike, or after some time away (think seasonal). If there's ever more doubt than normal, I take a pass. It'll never be "second nature" because man wasn't meant to fly on 2 wheels (or off them). Life is precious. Here's hoping your brother-in-law continues to heal and that you'll support him throughout his ordeal. Having the right support can make recovery an easier road. Continue to ride safe, keep it rubber side down.
  4. Welcome. Not wanting to sound like a negative Nancy, but thought I'd say it: keep it legal on public roads. On the track, tear it up and go for it. No need for triple digits anywhere on public roads, and admitting it openly can actually get you in legal trouble in some places. Double-check tire air pressures, balancing, and wear. My 2016 on original (ie, 6+ year-old) Dunlops has no wiggle or wobble of any kind. It only has 5800 miles, and when the time comes for new tires, I'm sure it will run even smoother than it already does. Keep it rubber-side down.
  5. Sounds like you had a great time. The Ring, however, is a very busy place. And very technically demanding. Keep it rubber-side down, since I've seen way too many vids of guys being heroes only to lose it mid-corner and be seriously injured.
  6. Where I live we call this "False Spring." Still, was able to ride about 60 miles yesterday for the 1st time this year. It was a beautiful 68*F day.
  7. Doing well, thanks! That was a great ride, we had a blast. Best wishes for recovery in your upcoming surgery!
  8. Rolled it out of the garage, washed the dust and cobwebs off, cleaned and lubed the chain. Placed it back on the NOCO trickle charger and can't wait for riding season to begin.
  9. Interestingly, the stock windshield seems to work just fine for me. It's set to the middle notches and I'm 5'11, haven't experienced buffeting or wobble at high speed. I would double-check tire air pressures and make sure those are correct. I've also heard some front wheels are difficult to balance when installing new tires. I do think the extra accessories on the bike increasing drag can interfere with aerodynamics, so I'd keep them off unless using them. Still wanting to replace the OEM shock/spring combo with a nicer unit, maybe in time for next year's riding season. I highly recommend the FJ-09, it's a great bike that does so many things very well.
  10. Just adding to the chorus of well wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.
  11. Easy fix = run with high beam ON all the time during the day. Not only does it prevent the discussion, but you are also more visible to other traffic.
  12. Just to piggyback on the elevation changes idea: liquid expands at higher elevation, so if your coolant bottle was at at top of the line before you climbed, it may have expanded and overflowed. As you were riding, it probably got splashed on the bike and unless you give it a good wash, it will likely always smell a bit whenever it's warmed up. I'd give the bike a good soaking when you can, see if that helps.
  13. Compared to OEM prices, that sounds like a fair number. I need to make sure 100% that they'd fit, and I might just take them off your hands. Too bad you're not closer... I'll be in touch.
  14. Definitely! I think we should plan on some specific dates so we can all get on the same calendar page. I'm out of town August 12-15 and also over Labor Day weekend (Sep 3-6), but other than that I could make most any day work, even during the week (working from home still). Let's ping @2and3cylinders and find out what day(s) we could all set up a ride together.
