  1. I've fitted an oiler to most of my previous bikes. Scottoiler used to be my go to brand. But they've got really expensive. Then I tried a cobrra oiler, very good but still around the £80 mark. Looking for a new oiler for my 9gt I found some cobbra rip offs in the £20 to £30 price bracket. I bought one and honestly can't tell the difference between the two. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending them. I made a longer mounting bracket and mounted it to the inside of the passenger foot peg hanger. Easy to route the supply hose from that position too. I use 80W/90 gear oil in it.
  2. Strangest thing. Arrived at the dealer. Dip and main beam working normally. Must have been working when I left home, I didn't check. Nothing for the mechanic to check out. Assured me that cornering lights would work normally too. I will check that later tonight. I must have disturbed something changing all those fuses.
  3. Thank you for the comprehensive reply Skip. No, I've not been tinkering with add ons or anything. I checked every fuse available as I was unable to identify the dedicated light fuse. The service was only a minor annual check, oil change, new filters etc. Dealers reopen tomorrow. I will let them sort it, hopefully. I just wondered if anyone had experienced this. Cheers
  4. Noticed last night on a rare for me night time ride. Neither of my led headlamps or cornering lights are working. The daytime running lights are fine. Had a routine service at the dealers a fortnight ago. Is there a connector in the cockpit, or anywhere else, that may have been left unconnected? I've checked fuses, all good. In fact I swapped every fuse to check there wasn't a blown one I couldn't see. I can't contact the dealer until tomorrow. Just wondered if anyone can throw some light on the subject. Geddit ? Thanks.
  5. On the 9gt the connecting plug is under the passenger seat. It's only a small connector, I was looking for something larger.
  6. I think a lot of bike manufacturers are the same. My last 4 modern triumph bikes all required the purchase of a comfort seat. The originals were all painful after an hour or twos riding. All the replacement seats I bought were a massive improvement. Its all about them making coin I suppose.
  7. Thanks for the reply Kenny. That's exactly what I was hoping to read. Cheers.
  8. Can anyone using the yamaha genuine comfort seat recommend it ? A search on them only brings up ones for resale. Makes me wonder if they're any good. After 2 hours riding on the original seat my butt is aching, literally, for a rest stop. Any opinions please.
  9. Hi mate, Personally I wouldn't worry too much about the QS. Get the engine management light reset and all should be good. I tripped the EML on the first lubing of the chain on my 9GT using your method. It sends the traction control sensor into confusion, hence the EML illuminating. I bought an OBD2 reader to reset it myself. Job done. I didn't know that your model is a dealer reset only. That's unusual.
  10. Hi Mark, I did exactly yesterday same - tripped the engine management light running the bike while on the centre stand. Unfortunately it doesn't reset while riding the bike. Had to buy an obd2 reader to reset the thing. It was easier to do than I anticipated. Good luck with your convalescence. John
  11. Thank you for taking the time to post those images, appreciate it. I owned a 900 tracer like yours a while back. I was able to remove body panels on that model to do some mods/work. Unfortunately the 9gt is a totally different kettle of fish ( to me ). Hidden push pins used as fasteners. I'm not brave enough to start something I probably won't be able to finish. I'm hoping Haynes might produce a workshop manual for the model. Thanks again for your trouble.
  12. Lovely job there mate. Thanks for the links. I would like to change the indicators on my 9gt. Not sure where the hell to start unbuttoning it though.
  13. Just to close this topic, may help someone else with a similar problem. EML reset using a code reader with 6 pin adaptor lead. All functions back in working order. I bought a THINKOBD500 from Thinkcar to reset the eml. One happy bunny 🐰
  14. Thanks for that OldBikers. I won't waste my time then with the TC settings. You're right I can't change any of the settings. I hadn't considered that. Just checked, no adjustments possible. It was a one off running the engine on the centre stand. I had fitted a pressure oiler and wanted to check that the oil dispensing nib was in the correct position. Cheers John
  15. Hi Jon, Thanks for the reply and info. That makes sense, switching off the TC before running the drive train on the centre stand. When I get the OBD reader and learn how to reset the EMl I will test the theory. Will post back the outcome. Cheers John
  16. Not much danger of me tripping the eml with extended wheelies OldBikers. 😆 OBD2 reader and cable on order. Just hope I can figure out the reset procedure when it arrives.
  17. Thanks for that Skip, I think getting a code reader would be the sensible thing to do. I will order one and a yamaha connector. Probably cost that for a dealer reset. Again, many thanks.
  18. New 9gt owner advice please. I ran the engine in 1st gear on the centre stand. I wanted to test a " cobrra " style oiler I'd just fitted. All seemed well. First ride out and the EML was lit up. I've run a couple of start stop sequences but the lights still on. Bike runs perfectly btw. Will it go off eventually or is it a dealer reset job ? Thanks John
  19. I got shafted with that. I ordered the yamaha top box kit a month ago for a tour in September. Took the bike in last week to have the rack fitted only to be informed that the box is on back order. Delivery e pected in November. Bugger.
  20. Thats a very kind offer mate, thank you very much. I've done some more digging and found that Motopumps have an international Ebay site. Order placed and accepted. $115.19 for item, delivery and taxes. I'm happy with that. Thanks again and to the other guys with fitting tips.
  21. Thanks for the reply Gary. Unfortunately I'm stuffed. Tried to order some but Motopumps don't ship to the UK. Thats strange because they appear to ship all round the globe but specifically exclude the UK. Back to the drawing board ! Cheers again JJ
  22. Those risers look to be exactly what I need for a more comfortable riding position. Any issues with cable lengths ? Looks to be fine. Cheers JJ
