  1. Thanks Kenny, it's a privilege to be here 😊
  2. Cheers @yamtracergaz, must confess that my choice was very much restricted by budget....but considering I'd promised my dear lady that I was giving up on bigger bikes after flogging the beemer, I consider myself very fortunate to have flown the Tracer under the "bigger bike" radar. I sold it to her as a middleweight which, in this day and age of 1200cc+, 150bhp+ monsters, it kind of is!!! 😝🎊 Edit: apologies, my comments make it sound like my bike was a compromise. Truth is, I absolutely love it and it's absolutely restored my joy of riding for riding's sake!!!
  3. Thanks a million for the screen advice, @bowlin01 and @HGP61 . I got on famously with an MRA screen (plus spoiler) on my GS so would have deffo leaned towards them but annoyingly, their website only shows screens for 2018-> 😭 Might be worth a phone call, during which I may discover the answer to the question of screen compatibility between the different model years!! Cheers again fellas 😁
  4. Hi from a fellow forum newbie. Having done years of 2-up bike touring with my dear lady, I can vouch for the fact that a topbox transforms their comfort, confidence and ability to fall asleep on the back while not falling off the bike 🀣🀣 Only thing you have to watch is overloading - not sure about the FJ9/Tracer 9,but I know that Yamaha say you cannot have topbox AND pannier boxes on the FJ1300.... (edit or at least they used to)
  5. Thanks Steve, it's good to make your acquaintance πŸΊπŸ‘ Re farkling, as you're no doubt aware, there's a correlation between the speed of farkle and the patience / willingness to acquiesce of ones poor, long suffering wife / partner / significant other. Much depends on the quantity of wine consumed prior to them agreeing to the release of further funds 🀣🍷 It's great to have a bike again which is fab, but in need of "improvement". Makes it more of a personal journey 😊 Cheers mate, Max
  6. Hi mate, nice to hear from you 😊 I'm amazed at the Met office stat - seems like it's always raining here!! But hey, I'm sure they know what they're talking about..... 😝 At the moment, I'm happy with the brakes and even the fueling! It's 'different' for sure, but I've been able to ride around any glitchiness so far. I may end up getting a Hilltop or something eventually, will see how it goes. The suspension is better than I expected. Coming from a 17 plate 1200GS Rallye with semi active thingumydoodars and hydro-dynamic, nuclear fission flux capacitors, I was expecting a massive drop in quality and yes, it's massively uncontrolled by comparison. However, I was bored with the umber-competence of the GS and actually, being bounced, shimmied and generally scared sh1tless is exciting and exhilarating by comparison. But yes, there may come a time when the Ohlins have to be introduced and fortunately I've got a fab suspension specialist http://www.stevejordanmotorcycles.co.uk/ a few miles away so I may pay them a visit. Actually, they could flash the ECU at the same time. I can see the pound signs adding up already 🀣🀣🀣
  7. Hi all, Just a quick intro post... Have had my 17 plate Tracer 900 for a few weeks now, after a history of BMWs and KTMs. The last Yam I had was in 1997, a beautiful (late, lamented) RZ250 lc, Japanese grey import. Absolutely love the Tracer, pending it needing the usual tweeks ie decent seat, decent screen and a louder pipe. All in good time!! In the meantime, here's a pics of the new addition!! Look forward to catching up with you guys soon πŸ˜€
