  1. Installed and aimed a pair of Rigid Industries LED accessory lights and also added a Scottoiler V-System
  2. I wear Alpinestars SMX-PLUS boots. They are comfortable on and off the bike and have enough safety features to make me feel safe at speed. I bought a pair of Alpinestars SCOUT WP boots but only wore them once. The toe-box on the scouts are big and make shifting my FJ a chore (does anyone else have this issue with some of the adventure boots I see posted?)...the SCOUTS are a nice boot but not for the FJ.
  3. Used one on of these http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/puig-clip-on-windscreen-visor on my stock screen and it was a day/night difference... quieter, less buffeting and made it very tolerable... I have since installed a PUIG touring screen and will add my lip to that for the next long ride. I am 5'9" and at the time i was using low seat position as well..
  4. I removed the inside flat portion of the handguard with a bench grinder... It is surprisingly very nice plastic... It didn't chip or break or wreck the paint... After i was able to sand it with some 320 paper to clean the edge.... It smoothed out very easy and it's hard to tell that they have been modified. I hate the look of the bike without the guards so I did what I had to to fit the piug. I can go lock to lock with the bars and not touch the screen with the guards now.
  5. I live close to the U.S. Border, purchased from revzilla and had shipped to a ups store near the border.. 15 minutes over the border to get it and 15 minutes back I had it at home. I have added pics to another thread here at fj-09.org http://fj-09.org/thread/2239/puig-touring-screen
  6. Sorry to hear you had a bad (and dangerous) experience. I'm not sure what they meant by adjusting the handguards by 10mm. To be fair, the instructions specifically instruct you to remove the handguard outer deflector; and this warning is also on the website. I don't find there is a huge difference in look with the outer deflectors off, particularly once I replaced the screws with hex bolts and black bolt caps. Some people strongly disagree with me, though. Either way, I'll be putting on their accessory hand guard covers when they are released (their Canadian rep tells me this will be late November or December) which will negate the issue. I managed to modify my guards so I could leave them on.. Not a huge deal and you can hardly even tell..
  7. Here is my Puig... I modified the hand gaurds to clear the windscreen...haven't tried it yet but it looks like it's tall enough to kill wind/helmet noise.
  8. Bike looks great. Tour away..... What tail bag is that you have, I really like the look and it suits the bike. Cheers It is made by SW Motech and is simply called "rearbag" .... It is expandable if needed, has a lot of storage in its stock form and fits the bike very well.
  9. Mine got all dressed up for touring...Headed back to PA in a couple of weeks...now with FJR cases (keeping the city cases for daily chores though) https://fz07.org/fj09/attach-thumb/3963665.jpg' alt='3963665.jpg'>
  10. Niagara area on the canadian side.
  11. My friend and I yanked apart the hard case locks and removed the tumblers.....using a one by one trial and error method we manged to use 4 out of the five tumblers in different locations to enable the use of the ignition key. The main bike key now works on case locks and I threw the case lock keys in the trash.
  12. Very nice, you must have a welder. One of the things I was never very good at. Thanks, I have a little mig welder I like to play with... I dont do it as much as would like to though.
  13. Spent some time on the FJ this weekend...shortened tag holder stem by a whole bunch, added some kellermann led signal lights, wrapped the lower hard case mounts with 3M carbon vinyl (thanks for the idea FJ-09.org)...When all was done I pulled it outside for a little sunshine. Still dying to ride it for the first time.. soon dammit!!
  14. I ordered the CalSci short shield too, I also like clean air. Had a small issue trying to order online. I live in Canada near the US border so it's easier & cheaper to have stuff shipped to The UPS Store at the border. The CalSci site supports a separate delivery address, but had an issue with zipcode vs postal code. I emailed CalSci, they replied right away with a solution. Got it ordered, they shipped it same day. Very professional! @deersslayer, I use the UPS store in Buffalo as I live just across the border on the Canadian side as well...I save huge on shipping and its so much faster than haveing stuff shipped to my house. Once you get the shield be sure to post some pics..I will probably end up with a short tinted
  15. I cant wait to see some more pictures of the short tinted one. It will be my choice as well...if my grey FJ ever shows up at the dealer.
