  1. Check out the posts on the windshield section, the Puig post by nihilist, it's pretty complete, and has a very comprehensive write up about the screen, me I love it plus unlike some others it looks really good...
  2. OK. Looks like it must have been spray painted? It is the Puig, no spray paint it's the light smoke.
  3. Did 2000km this week on the new pirelli's, lots of fire roads and Sandy off road, this bike can take some dirt.
  4. I'm at 4760km the rear looks to have at least 3000 more kms and the front looks almost new, but the bottom line is that I never felt comfortable with those tires (I hate them) , so I decided to switch to pirelli scorpion trail.
  5. Got rid of those awful d222 changed them for a set of pirelli scorpion trail.
  6. It takes a little bit of grind work, but it's fairly easy, you need to take off 5mm to get them to fit, they are a bit wider.
  7. I talked to Puig USA and they said the hand protectors are still in development, and they'll be available Nov/Dec. I'll definitely be buying a set when they are available. I think it does lose something with the superficial deflectors removed, but I honestly don't notice a huge difference, at least with those nasty silver screws blacked out. Blacking out the screws seems a pretty good idea I'll give it a try, until I can get the handsavers from Puig. The vendor from where I got the windshield told me that he had already ordered the handsavers, but your information comes directly from Puig, so I'm thinking he's not being really straight forward...
  8. II just couldn't take off the handsavers plastic that hits the windshield, I just can't handle how ugly they look, I did in all fairness order the Puig handsavers to stop any issues with the oem handsavers.
  9. I'm really looking forward to your impressions, I truly feel it has been the biggest and most positive addition I've made to the bike.
  10. 1.It mounts on the stock bracket. 2.I use it in the lowest setting. 3.1.71M that's 5'7ish 4.Low seat. 5. Yes I can drive with the face shield cracked open, with very manageable noise and close to no buffeting (using AGV ax8 dual). 6. Crosswinds don't affect that much it's still a big windshield and thus catch some wind, but it works ok. 7. I love the look, it's sturdy beautifully finished and feels very well build.
  11. I agree the hand guards from puig look really good with the windshield. I wanted to order them but they are not carried by BS motorsports, where I had to order the screen. I have not found anywhere to buy them. I had the same problem I order directly from a PUIG distributor.
  12. I notice you didn't remove the hand protector deflector piece, which the instructions say to do. Do they clear the shield or interfere? I have one incoming and I'd like to leave them on if they don't interfere. They do hit the windshield, when doing garage maneuvers, but in normal day to day riding they don't. I did remove them while installing it, but it looked so ugly I went ahead and put them back on and see how bad it was, and it's acceptable, at least to me they are far from intruding in any riding maneuver, and I just try to be careful in the garage. Anyway, I did order the handsavers from puig, I really like how they look.
  13. I don't have the exact distance but in the puig site they measure it at 64cm from top to bottom and 41 at the widest part of the screen. Riding review, first I have to be honest, I HATED the OEM screen, I'm 171 (5"7ish) and use an AGV ax8 dual carbon so it has a beak, and I couldn't find any position in which the standard screen wasn't a nightmare, I ended up removing the beak from the helmet and dropping the screen to it's lowest setting, deafening wind noise, but at least the turbulence wasn't killing me, it was still awful. So any change would be a welcome one, and to be honest this screen is the best thing I've done to the fj, my life is happier, my neck relaxed and my helmet has its beak back, it's still at the lowest position, about an inch under my eyes, wind turbulence is gone, the flow hits me right on top of my head, I can use the visor semi open and no wind gets in my eyes, just the pleasure of the open road and not having to deal with fog. Wind noise levels have dropped significantly, I'm starting to think the fairing has a lot to do with it, but my hearing is safe (still use ear plugs most of the time) but it's on par with the wind noise on my k50. I'm pretty much in love with the damn thing, that piece of plastic changed drastically my life on board of the fj. So would I recommended? Let me put it this way, knowing what I know now, I would've ordered the windshield before buying the bike, so I'd have it the day they delivered my fj, it's the best mod, and the most dramatic change I've felt on any bike (25 years riding, 30+ bikes, thousands of mods) I love the fj but had no place for it, I have a bike for long hauls, a naked bike to act stupid & scooter to run errands around town, I bought the fj for short distance touring. The first time I tried to do some light touring on the FJ the thing tried to rip my head off, now if there isn't any off road I'll take the fj over the K50 every time. A bit on the dramatic side I know, but I really loved the bike and hated with every fiber of my being the standard screen...
  14. Nice. Side view? bottom to top distance? Ride review concerning noise and turbulence? Sorry for all the questions but I like that windscreen. Going to the garage to take some pics, be right back with the rest of the info
  15. This is what has been done so far: - Givi rack - Givi top case V47 - Givi top case back rest - Givi tank mount - Givi tank bag 3D603 - Givi crash bars - Hella fog lights A lot of Givi, but they were the first to have so many things for the bike, and in my previous experience they are very good products... http://imgur.com/jTjuLTi
  16. Agv AX8 dual evo. Comfortable, kind of quiet, great aerodynamic, good ventilation, also looks mean on the naked configuration. Downside, the top of the visor scratches itself with the top seal, doesn't intrud on the field of view, but doesn't look good...
