Premium Member Popular Post micah2074 Posted August 4, 2021 Premium Member Popular Post Share Posted August 4, 2021 (edited) We left SE Tennessee at 0400 and finally had breakfast around 0900 in Mississippi. The first stop for the night was Cleveland Tx. We always look forward to a Whattaburger. It’s the superior burger when compared to the In-N-Out burger. I have a thing for courthouses. Hallettesville TX. I like to stop and eat in local places. Maggie’s didn’t disappoint. When you see a sign telling you it’s the last gas for a while, take it seriously. We stayed the second night in Alpine TX. It’s hard to keep these youngins off their phones Big Bend was nice. The road along the Rio Grande was fun. I may have snuck across this section of the Rio Grande and for a short time been an illegal alien in Mexico… ooops…. The only thing fun about El Paso. I can’t really say anything else good about the town. This is a big hole in the ground in Arizona. Tombstone had a nice one. Life gets tough on the road. Flash floods are real and no joke. The best part of California is away from the Big cities. Stay away from the big cities. These trees didn’t seem real. That’s right, $6.09 a gallon. This place was a bit on the warm side. We stayed the night in Vegas. Second time I’ve been here and still not impressed. The beggars and drug addicted ruin it. Utah does not disappoint. Otie takin a break SW Colorado doesn't disappoint. Puttin out the Million $ vibe.. The Butch Cassidy café was a treat Is that Sasquatch? Is he's goin in the woods... Lumpy Puttin out the Million $ vibe The "Love dog" may be the perfect road trip food. Cheap, fast and tasty. The rule is if you get caught it gets put on the web. A better part of California. After Riding the awesome CO149 we headed home. Two days of hustle and not much fun. We had a blast and can’t wait for Odyssey 2022, the mother road and beyond. Supporting Member texscottyd Posted August 5, 2021 Supporting Member Share Posted August 5, 2021 Wow! You had me at the Whataburger in Cleveland, Texas @micah2074... The river road in Big Bend is spectacular, and you're right that Utah does not disappoint. Thanks for the photos... it brings back some fond roadtrip memories.

Premium Member keithu Posted August 5, 2021 Premium Member Share Posted August 5, 2021 If you removed every beggar and drug addict from Las Vegas it would still suck. Also - and this may get me banned - "superior burger compared to In-N-Out" is a low bar. Most overrated burger ever, and their fries suck too. Great write up and photos BTW!

Damn good. 2 ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***
Supporting Member knyte Posted August 6, 2021 Supporting Member Share Posted August 6, 2021 Great pics, that looks like one heck of a ride - sooo jelly. Ever since following Matt's Offroad Recovery I've been wanting to see Utah. What a gorgeous part of Earth. Thanks for the post & pics - really enjoyed that. 1 2015 FJ-09 / FJR touring bags / oil plug mod / Evotech rad guard / SW Motech bash plate / VStream touring windshield / Seat Concepts: Sport Touring / Vcyclenut ABS rings (speedo correction) / Cosmo RAM mount

Damn good. I haven't had one. I generally avoid fast food burgers these days, but Whataburger is on my list to try next time I'm in Texas. Is it better than Five Guys?

Damn good. Really? The one I had in Jackson, MS... could only give McD's a run for its money. Hardees was far superior to Whataburger.
