silverninja
When I am in top gear, the number 6 will disappear intermittently from the display, then eventually come back again. There is no pattern, rhyme or reason I can detect. Have anyone ever heard of this, or have a fix ?
quaxum
Up shift or downshift? Which year? I too experience it sometimes when up shifting into a false natural from gear 5-6.
Premium Member micah2074 Posted August 25, 2021 Premium Member Share Posted August 25, 2021 It's the gear indicator switch down next to the front sprocket. It's a common thing. My 4th has flickered for years. I took it out and cleaned the contacts the last time i changed the chain and sprockets. It helped for a while. I just ignore it. 4 Let’s go Brandon

If you can clean the contacts it should help. No idea which year bike you have, so the links below are from mine, a 2015. Shouldn't be different on later models, but YMMV. There's a wee spring-loaded nubbin in the end of the shift drum that makes contact with the switch. You'll want to carefully clean the nubbin and the spring, and clean the hole in the shift drum with a wee q-tip or similar. The spring and nubbin are #2 and #3, respectively: https://www.onlinecycleparts.com/oemparts/a/yam/546a26ccf87002164cb28021/shift-cam-fork And clean the contacts on the switch as well, #10 on this diagram. Switch and o-ring are about $50 if you think it might be worn out. Might want to replace the o-ring. https://www.onlinecycleparts.com/oemparts/a/yam/546a26ccf87002164cb28021/shift-cam-fork
