Giving engine bars, bolt dimensions

Recommended Posts

What model year is your bike? IIRC there are at least two, maybe three, different Givi crash bars for the FJ/Tracer series, so be very careful about this.

The dimensions of the fasteners are given in the instruction sheets from Givi. The instruction sheets are maddening and vague, even if you do speak Italian, but the information is in there.

Be very careful about thread pitch if you're buying fasteners separately; M10 and M12 fasteners that thread into the bike are generally 1.25mm thread pitch, but many fasteners you find in hardware stores are for US and Euro vehicles and are usually 1.5mm thread pitch.

And of course make sure you're using decent grade fasteners -- not sure what Givi supplies, but I'd probably want 10.9. 8.8 might be enough, but I'm not sure.

And of course, at least one of the fasteners depicted is simply re-using the fastener from the motorcycle.

As an example, this page has a download link for a PDF of Givi's instructions for the 2015-2017 models. No idea whether this is your bike or not, but if not, poke around for Givi's instructions for the Givi part number you have in hand.

See the 'Niken Crash Bar' thread for dimensions of the M10x1.25 bolts. While bar size may vary, bolts should be similar. Sourcing the bolts can be difficult, let us know where you get them.
