Cornersruns
After oil filler cap came off mid ride 😰 I need to replace the rear pads as they are contaminated with oil. Are there any other parts required with the pads, pins, shims etc that should be replaced at the same time? Plan is remove old pads, good clean of disc and calliper with brake cleaner, fit new pads. Sound reasonable. Any advantage of using genuine yamaha pads or what make of replacement recommended> Cheers
Premium Member 2and3cylinders Posted August 24, 2022 Premium Member Share Posted August 24, 2022 That all sounds good. Use 91% isopropyl alcohol maybe instead of non-chlorinated brake clear; buy a quart bottle at WM etc, and replace cap with pump sprayer. Paper towels work fine and touch up finish in caliper, rubber boot, hose, wheel, etc. with rubber / vinyl restorer. And use silicone grease on the caliper slide bolt in its rubber boot and the pad slide pin. BTW, I have a spare set of rear OEM pads available... 😉
johnmark101
OEM Pads are just fine. If you want to upgrade, I recommend Vesrah pads. Expensive but worth it.  There is nothing like spending a day riding with friends in the grip of a shared obsession.
