Auxiliary power outlet

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, New to the site and hoping for some help. Not long bought a 2019 Tracer 900 GT (UK) which came with Givi Aux lights fitted. They are however directly connected to the battery or an always on supply connector (not found that yet!). Is there a switched outlet on the bike somewhere that I can connect the switch relay trigger to so that it can only be turned on while the ignition is on or the bike is running? This question comes as a lesson learnt having left them on and drained the batter while away from home - school boy error on my part.

Any advice welcome

Cheers

Mark

Have a look at this forum page 3 in the middle of the page (begins at message 22) https://www.mt09.net/t7873p60-installation-d-un-adaptateur-usb-12v-sur-une-tracer

It is in french (if you need I can help you to translate) and shows how to access to the aux connectors under the screen.

Waterproof Connector https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/32794218728.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.202b378djCDBDS&mp=1&gatewayAdapt=glo2fra

Non waterproof square connector  https://www.ebay.fr/itm/YAMAHA-prise-accessoire-a-sertir-MT07-MT09-FJ9-FZ07-FZ09-YZF-R1-R1M-R6-XSR-XTZ/174372724448

Otherwise as said previously you can connect to the tail light (I did it to connect my heated vest via a relay) by buying a connector like this https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/32905465583.html

Thanks to all for the advice guys. I'll take the nose off and have a look to see how they have wired them in and if they haven't used either of those sockets i'll rewire. I was out again today and did the same thing but one of my buddy's i was riding with reminded me. I must get it sorted.

cheers

Hi,

I just orderd ONE OF THIS and this one has the correct connector for the bike. I placed it on the rightside next to the dash. I had to make the hole a bit bigger, so it fits.

By the look of the plug I think it will work also for a 15 FJ09 and on too.

It appears I have the same power powerport but it didn't come with the harness with matching plug so I made my own connector that fit inside the OEM connector and it's worked well well for 15000 plus miles

It will work on a 2015 FJ-09, I own a 2015 FJ as well.

Recently had mine apart to put the replacement cable for the Zumo XT in so added an outlet to the right side cutout.   Installed a USB A and C outlet from the giant woman.  Haven't used it but it does work and also displays voltage when the bike is on.  Don't expect to use it a lot but wanted A and C USB plugs as more of my stuff uses USB C.  It is powered off of my Neutrino Element Plus with the "fuse" set at 10A but may drop it a bit.  Still have the original cigarette lighter socket and have used one of the blank connectors for the Garmin.  Chose to use the Neutrino to power the USB outlet as it is a solid state fuse and easy enough to run two wires to.

Last trip I was in Canada and set out for the day to go up the Ice Fields parkway.  Think it was the 1st or second stop and one of the power pins in the Zumo mount came out!!!  So thousands of miles from home with a Garmin that only had battery power.   Fortunately had a USB cord that would fit the Garmin but of course not a cigarette lighter USB outlet plug - it was at home.  Fortunately bought one at a store on the Ice Fields Parkway and was able to use it with a USB cable to get home which was 10 days.

Other than my Garmin typically do not charge anything while on the road.  On rare occasions I've stayed at a campsite without electrical and wind up struggling to get everything charged - bluetooth headset, airbag vest, iPhone, tablet, GoPro batteries and a Mophie.  This would enable me to charge some of that stuff while riding and only have to charge airbag vest and headset at night.
