Premium Member rusty_spoke Posted January 15, 2015 Author Premium Member Share Posted January 15, 2015 Thanks for the link! I ordered the tinted short shield since i like clean air. I'll also post up pics when it's installed later this weekI ordered the CalSci short shield too, I also like clean air. Had a small issue trying to order online. I live in Canada near the US border so it's easier & cheaper to have stuff shipped to The UPS Store at the border. The CalSci site supports a separate delivery address, but had an issue with zipcode vs postal code. I emailed CalSci, they replied right away with a solution. Got it ordered, they shipped it same day. Very professional! @deersslayer, I use the UPS store in Buffalo as I live just across the border on the Canadian side as well...I save huge on shipping and its so much faster than haveing stuff shipped to my house. Once you get the shield be sure to post some pics..I will probably end up with a short tinted
Premium Member ULEWZ Posted January 16, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted January 16, 2015 Bought the tall CalSci yesterday and will report when I install it. I wish it came in light smoke, but oh well. Probably not my last windscreen I will buy. A government which robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul. deersSlayer
All pics taken with shield in lowest position! CalSci dark shorty installed (random white areas on shield from fluorescent lights, except the label saying "tighten to maximum 4 ft-lb"): http://i.imgur.com/HVk9UuQ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/z0YuQQr.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ORcvZqC.jpg http://i.imgur.com/5lkifiP.jpg http://i.imgur.com/h3rvbUZ.jpg http://i.imgur.com/1H2Ddoc.jpg Note that the CalSci shield does not go as low down as the Yamaha shield. No ride review until spring, when I get my first ride with my bike! :-S Stock Yamaha: http://i.imgur.com/jCFWVC3.jpg To me the CalSci attachment hardware (screw + plastic holder + grommet + aluminum spacer + cap) seems better quality than the Yamaha hardware (screw - that's it!) Yes, my garage is *extremely* untidy! Bonus to anyone who can spot a partial glimpse (in 2 photos) of a rare Honda accessory (came with bike only available a few years in 80's in Canada, never in the USA.) FJ-09, 690 Enduro R. RandyD
Got both the CalSci windshields. Was a little cool (65 by FL standards) so I opted to try out the tall windscreen. Started off in the high position and immediately pulled over to lower it. I'm 5'9" and it was right across my sight line. In the low position it worked perfect. The little cut out above the gauges did just what they claimed and there is almost zero buffeting in the pocket between the shield and your body. Very little wind felt across my helmet. I could tell it was just hitting above my visor as I could feel a nice cool blast in the helmet vents. I'll try the shorty later this week when it gets back up to 75 lol
FigJam-OhNine
I was about to order the tinted shorty, but I live in Canada, and unlike @deersslayer I'm on an island, so a quick drive over the border to get it isn't an option. With shipping and USD to CAD exchange, it's over $200 for this screen, and that doesn't include any taxes that customs might impose. I think I'll wait. Also, after seeing some new pictures, I don't know that I love the look of it. I think going down as low as stock would help clean up the look and integrate it into the bike a bit more. Not going as low looks like it's on the bike, not part of the bike.

Laurent I have used their fly screen on my wife's Street Triple. We use FrogSpecialties here in the states for their products, but they currently do not show any products for the MT-09 tracer. Ugly as all get up, but looks really functional and adds adjustability. link There's no way that clears the hand guards...It doesn't . It requires removing the front part of the guard. Not sure I want to keep my guards anyhow. Way too wide at 3'. "You will notice in the photos that the hand guards look a little different. These are still the factory hand guards but with the front section removed so that they do not hit the edges of the wider MadStad touring shield."
