FJ-09 Goofy Suspension

Recommended Posts

As i'm pooring cash into this bike to make it the way Yamaha should have made it in the first place, has anyone found a good aftermarket product or company to make the suspension work right? Tried all spring abd preload settings, it's as if the spring and preload settings are always unmatched. It's either too harsh or soft with pogoing and...well if I have to explain it...
Thanks for your input.

When you get your fork cartridge kit, please let me know what size springs you are using. Mine shipped from Italy and are in Los Angeles somewhere. Should be here tomorrow. Mine shipped with a 7.8 spring, but think that may be too light for my 180 pounds. I am still in search of a shock. Let us know how the Ohlins does. super_zpsd4x7by7h.gif

Dave Behrend from Fastbikes Industries asked for my weight and was installing the correct spring.  I'm 205 lbs and will let you know what spring he used.   He said Ohlins is working on the shock and he will let me know when it's ready.  If not soon, I may go with the Penske.

Stock springs are .90 My springs are .975
Ya, may have to upgrade the springs. Maybe the stock springs will fit the cartridges? time will tell. Should be here tomorrow. 4 days shipping from Italy is not bad.

I weigh 255# in full gear so I would think you might need a bit more spring. I may pull my stuff out and go back to stock, thinking about a new R1....the cycle continues....comfort bike, R1, Comfort bike, R1...

Think I'll go with Traxxion for the fork and shock set ups. They really seem to know what they're doing over there. Not cheap, but worth it to me to get this bike sorted out.

Dave's done some suspension work for me on a couple of bikes.  I've even been to his shop.  Great guy, knows his business.  I'm going to send him my forks when I get back from a trip next month.
