Premium Member jimf Posted June 4, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted June 4, 2015 Anyone know if they're there to keep you from grounding the centerstand? If that touches down, it can lever the rear wheel off the ground... makes for a spectacular high side.Yes, they're a warning mechanism before hard parts touch down. The centerstand does touch down first otherwise. I wouldn't get too worked up about the centerstand levering you off the ground. Possible? Sure, but you would be grinding it pretty hard by the time that happens. Stop leaning more when it starts grinding, just as you would/should for the peg feelers. No biggie. You're pretty close to the edge of the rear tire by the time that happens anyway. Normally I leave the feelers on because I'm a fan of feedback, but the FJ's feelers are so long they interfere with my ability to put the sidestand down. I (unfortunately :-) lean the bike hard enough to touch hard parts only very rarely, but I have to put the sidestand down at least once every time I ride.... 2015 FJ-09 (Mary Kate) 2007 Daytona 675 (Tabitha, ret.) 1998 Vulcan 800 (Ret.) 2001 SV650S (Veronica, Ret.) 2000 Intruder 800 (Ret.)
