Something fell off my Tracer 9 :-/

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Sorry if this is not the right place, I am new here. I was taking the ACF50 winter coat of my Yamaha Tracer 9 GT (2021) the other day and noticed something has come off. It appears to be connected to the rear suspension, but I cannot find what it is online.

I don't know if it is related but my cruise control is now flashing (will not work). I'm assuming it's all connected?

I will attach a picture of the part. My Dad has put a new bolt in until I can get it to a Yamaha garage but the CC is still not working!

Many thanks for any help.

That looks like a position sensor for the semiactive suspension.

Edit: Looking at the parts diagram, it's the angular position sensor.  I doubt it has anything to do with your cruise control.

That connects the swing arm to a position sensor, probably input for six axis abs/imu thingy. Probably faulted, therefore no cruise until a code is cleared.

If you want to avoid taking it to the dealership and save some money on labor, it just looks like you're missing the nut and the collar that attaches the angular position sensor to the swing arm. You want parts 14 & 15 in this diagram:

Yamaha Motorcycle 2022 OEM Parts Diagram for Rear Arm | Partzilla.com

Drop the collar - part 14 - into the rear fender circle in your picture, then you want to use part 15 to screw the position sensor rod bracket on top of the fender, securing it to the swing arm; from bottom to top: swing arm, fender, sensor rod. There will be a groove traced into the swingarm that the "hook" in the shift linkage should fit nicely into:

There is a slight raised portion/projection "b" on the swing arm, the hook "a" of the bracket should be touching "b".

Thank you. My Dad already put me a temp screw in until I could get it to a garage. The problem is, the cruise control is now playing up, someone on here said it might need resetting after this.

The picture here shows the sensor arm going straight down but they way my Dad has put it back, it's on an angle to the screw, almost horizontal. Is that wrong?

😂😂 It was the wrong way. My dad just flipped it over. I'll test it tomorrow when I go to work.

Many thanks.

I'm not sure about generation 3, but you may still get the code which has to be cleared by a Yamaha dealer unless you have ann OCB CAN dongle adapter cable and a dongle. 🤠

In the owner's manual for my 22 9GT there is a menu choice for SUS Sensor Calibration; the calibration is supposed to be performed after any service to the rear suspension.  This is a choice on the settings menu.  Maybe that just needs to be done.

Did the calibration after refitting the arm that fell off and pleased to say the cruise control is now back on and working :)

Thanks for the help.
