October 22, 2024Oct 22 I like it… and 17” wheels at both ends with the sportbike standard 120 & 180 tire sizes. I could see them selling a ton of these.
October 22, 2024Oct 22 I bet this is going to be an awesome bike! my son just purchased a 660 and I have a 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE. The quality and finish is very nice. Edited October 22, 2024Oct 22 by Stylo Steve
October 22, 2024Oct 22 Author Man, if anything were to happen to my FJ, I'd have to take a lonnng hard look at Triumph now. A 660 might be a bit "less" than what I'm used to at this point, but wow this 800 is super compelling. 2015 FJ-09 / FJR touring bags / GIVI E52 Maxia top case / oil plug mod / Evotech rad guard / SW Motech bash plate / GIVI DS2122S windscreen / Seat Concepts: Sport Touring / Vcyclenut ABS rings (speedo correction) / Cosmo RAM mount
October 23, 2024Oct 23 Nice looking bike, and the specs read great. Thought I'd update my comparo table. Couldn't find ground clearance anywhere.... but I don't imagine it'd be any worse than the FJ/Tracer.
October 23, 2024Oct 23 I spec’d one out last night and to build it out with a TPMS, heated grips, bags, and a few other bits on it you’re at like $15k. Thinking OTD with setup, delivery, accessory install, taxes, etc. you’re close to the $18k mark. Are there better options at that level? That’s getting up there for a reported “budget friendly” touring rig.
October 23, 2024Oct 23 Good point @miweber929... and in the end it really comes down to how it "fits". What feels great to one rider might feel awkward to another. It's good to see another bike in the segment, one that is generally close in performance to the FJ/Tracer line. The price point is attractive for what it offers IMO. Tracer 9 GT+ and Versys 1000 LT SE are each some CAD $5K more expensive (before taxes, delivery etc.), offering some features that I don't necessarily care about. Both Yamaha and Kawasaki seem to have dropped lower tier models in our market. The Triumph looks to be a more... basic build.
October 24, 2024Oct 24 It's also something like 471 pounds wet. Saw the intro and thought that maybe that is a bike I could like. Other bike that has caught my attention is the Honda CBR650R.

October 25, 2024Oct 25 56" wheelbase - I bet it carves hard. Guh, not saying I regret the KTM Super Duke GT purchase, but man there's a Triumph dealership 15-min from my house. God damnit 🫠

Didn't realize that. I could live with it but have lots of time to contemplate. Will be 6months more at least till I feel my breastbone has healed from heart surgery to be comfortable riding a bike (or bicycle). Interesting side not the surgeon was not at all concerned about the dacron section of my aorta. Apparently it is quite durable. The Tracer is a wonderful bike. Not too big and heavy but with good power and able to accelerate well at interstate traffic speeds.

Offering an E-Clutch only model makes zero difference to the rider if you don't want to use it since the "clutch-less operation" is 100% optional. If you don't activate the E Clutch, it operates EXACTLY like the clutch you use now. ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***

If it was something as benign as a quickshifter or even radar cruise control I wouldn’t give it a second thought or mention it. This is new tech with a lot of moving parts, unless you specifically want that feature I’d personally pass on that model.
