Supporting Member knyte Posted December 25, 2024 Supporting Member Share Posted December 25, 2024 Interesting! I'm not sure if this is something I'd actually use, but it's a compelling bit of kit at a reasonable price. 2015 FJ-09 / FJR touring bags / oil plug mod / Evotech rad guard / SW Motech bash plate / GIVI DS2122S windscreen / Seat Concepts: Sport Touring / Vcyclenut ABS rings (speedo correction) / Cosmo RAM mount
Supporting Member piotrek Posted December 26, 2024 Supporting Member Share Posted December 26, 2024 Thanks for the link @knyte. I bought the C3 kit (on sale... at 22% off), with the ball mount option. Happy Festivus to me. I think I can use this gadget for most of my riding, where I have data coverage, and the phone is always with me. When heading out into the boonies... I will put the Garmin back on. I will make this an easy swap.
Supporting Member knyte Posted December 27, 2024 Author Supporting Member Share Posted December 27, 2024 The more I think about it, the more I kinda want one for an older bike (83 Nighthawk). I'd be interested in your thoughts and experiences with it. 2015 FJ-09 / FJR touring bags / oil plug mod / Evotech rad guard / SW Motech bash plate / GIVI DS2122S windscreen / Seat Concepts: Sport Touring / Vcyclenut ABS rings (speedo correction) / Cosmo RAM mount
Supporting Member piotrek Posted December 27, 2024 Supporting Member Share Posted December 27, 2024 I don't expect it to be more than a simple AA device. It doesn't interface with the bike data in any way, sooo... not really a "dash". The Nighthawk won't benefit from it any more than the FJ would. 🤔 It will require no mods to my existing mount... I think I will like it.
Supporting Member knyte Posted December 27, 2024 Author Supporting Member Share Posted December 27, 2024 Fair points, but the phone integration for navigation is what's most appealing (to me). Some will appreciate the TPMS readout. I'm not a fan of mounting $1000+ smartphones to such a vibrate-y machine that can conceivably wipe out the camera servo. At the moment I don't have GPS mounts for the NH, and I'm not completely thrilled with my Garmin anyways. The thought of mounting that to my NH is unattractive! But for $150-ish ? Heck ya. Well, it's a thought anyways. 2015 FJ-09 / FJR touring bags / oil plug mod / Evotech rad guard / SW Motech bash plate / GIVI DS2122S windscreen / Seat Concepts: Sport Touring / Vcyclenut ABS rings (speedo correction) / Cosmo RAM mount
Supporting Member betoney Posted December 27, 2024 Supporting Member Share Posted December 27, 2024 @knyte If you search through TwoWheelObsessions video catalog, he has done several in-depth reviews on different brands. In addition he also has very good maintenance videos for Yamaha's - FZ09 and FJR. https://www.youtube.com/@TwoWheelObsession 1 ***2015 Candy Red FJ-09***
