gst95dsm
Here's a road you guys should travel at least once! It starts just after North Fork, CA. North Fork is the exact center of CA from all directions. Anyhow the road itself is about 55 miles , then about 14miles of poorly paved, gravel, dirt road, then about 30 miles back down to Bass Lake on Beasore Rd. From there you head over to highway 41 and back down through Oakhurst. The road is all twisty's, usually very clean aside from pine needles on each shoulder. At the actual Mammoth Pool area there is a general store and restaurant that's always pretty good. Most people go there and head back home the same way. I discovered you could loop it 10 years ago and I try to do it every so often. It's a beautiful ride. A little LESS beautiful right now because of the fire last year, but it's interesting to drive through a forest fire zone..... miles and miles burnt. You will also gain an appreciation for those folks who clean it up, it looks like a massive undertaking. Anyhow..... here's some pics! Redinger Lake Thanks for looking! panooch
Agreed, great ride and just did it three weeks ago. Lots of logging trucks and other heavy equipment for sure. I think it was called the French Camp Fire. Mammoth Pool Rd was, and will be again, a fabulous ride. Beasore Rd is a hidden gem. I mistakenly ended up on it the first day of deer season a few years ago, ooops. The hunters owned the road that day. Everyday's a good day when your able to ride 15 FJ-09 - 2WDW ECU flash, Givi SV201, Nelson Rigg tail bag, OES sliders, Koubalink extenders, Ermax Sport, Vista Cruise, OEM seat mod, (smiles) 07 Honda ST1300A (sold) 06 Kawi KLR650 - Big Gun full exhaust, Corbin, Givi, PMR racks, carb mod (keeper) 97 Honda VFR750 - Traxxion Dynamics, Penske, Givi 3 piece, carbon exhaust (keeper?) 20+ years of snowmobiles
gst95dsm
Hey Right on! I think I may have seen you at Yosemite about a month ago. You were at Glacier Point (actually just before) with a large group. I spotted the FJ outta the crowd of course. I was in my Mustang not my FJ though. I recognize your red trim....... anyhow looks like were both enjoying our FJ's!

Once you come out on Beasore Rd, you can go the back way around Bass Lake and back into North Fork. Just out of North Fork, try returning on Power House Rd. It goes by Kerckhoff Lake and takes you to Auberry. Another gem, twistier and way safer then 41 as long as its not Saturday or Sunday when the squids are out. The same day you saw me @ Glacier Point, one of those riders, only 58, lost his life heading home on SB SR 41 just past the old Broken Bit. He had broken off from the other riders who avoid it.
