stringman
Hi all firstly I am from the UK and presume the layout of the switchgear will be the same regardless of the bikes being a Tracer or FJ? I am about to install some DRL (see one of my other posts) and one of my many ideas was to run it with the option of switchable when riding but also powered independently via the high beams ( so that even if I haven't got them switched on but I flash the high beams the will come on) Well I think I have solved that (running vial 2 relays) but know I want to find a nice switch solution. I noticed on my uk bike on the left hand side switch gear unit there is a round blank. On the right hand side that is where the hazard light switch goes. So (finally!!) my questions are: Do the US bikes have the hazards on the left?Does anyone know if the actual hazard switch can be bought on its own?would it fit in the left hand unit? as ever many thanks
Premium Member builderbob Posted August 4, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted August 4, 2015 If it's the same blank that I'm thinking about, that's the location where the on/off button would be if the bike had cruise control.
stringman
M mm I will have to have a look at that. Looks like I may have to take the switches apart
tommo
This shows you the tenere (and I am pretty sure the FJR is the same on the new one) from MC Cruise's thread
stringman
tommo that looks identical to the Tracers switchgear, with the rocker switches operating the menu system. I wonder if the actual cruise control on off switch can bought as a separate item?
tommo
Highly doubt it, but you may be able to get one from a crashed tenere /fjr?
Premium Member jjb Posted August 6, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted August 6, 2015 That rocker switch is not where the menu system switch goes, it's below that and you'll notice another blank for that too. Best bet, if you don't want to buy a Tenere switchgear set (probably not shy of £200), is to measure the diammeter of the hole and go for a switch from RS Components that you could get the closest match for. I was thinking of something similar but for a PTT for my bike-to-bike intercom.

Post by peporter on 1 minute ago Johann, if you have a tank bag, this might work for you. I have one inside my SW-Motech bag with a push button sticking out of the front. It's for a garage door opener, but should work for a gate also....maybe.....http://www.mo-door.com/index.html Read more: http://fj-09.org/posts/recent#ixzz3i5tMFcAN
trench
This the by far the best configuration for cruise control. The bolt-on controls look bush league to me.

Would appreciate more detail please.
