johnnyd
My wife and I tied the knot on Friday-thank you-and while we didn't ride up, we did notice a lot of bikes. Has anyone ridden in this area before? It's a beautiful place with nice twisties, usually under 50mph. I would love to make a trip up when I finally get an FJ, and am curious about rides any forum members have experienced here.
phpaul
I see this post is nearly a year old so there's probably not much point to replying, but... I live 5 miles from the Schoodic section of Acadia, and about an hour from the more well known Bar Harbor section. Daughter and I ride the twisties through Schoodic at least once a week, usually several times a week. Fun ride even at the mandatory 35mph limit (and messing with the Rangers is NOT recommended...) and you can't beat the scenery.
johnnyd
Sounds like a great ride! Some day...some day. Thanks!
phpaul
[video src=https://youtu.be/PkbsH87vg-Q] Here's a crappy video of the ride taken with a cheesy GoPro clone.
Premium Member nhridah Posted July 25, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted July 25, 2016 May head that way after Labor Day, still in the planning stage ultimately we are heading to Nova Scotia to ride the Cabot trail. I want to spend some time in Acadia, but I will be with a few other riders. I might have to make a separate trip to Acadia. I will be on my Matte Black FJ 09. Acadia isn't too far from NH so I can do it on my own one of these days. After labor day most tourists should be off the road and that will be a good time to go. Do you agree? Premium Member nhridah Posted July 25, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted July 25, 2016 Not bad video, had to turn down the volume though. I may head up there to Acadia before Labor Day on a solo ride. I will want to stop often to take pics and enjoy the views. The group ride to Nova Scotia will probably not tolerate my urges to stop. Thanks Phpaul. Premium Member nhridah Posted July 25, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted July 25, 2016 Haven't been to Bah haba in years. So let me know when the best time to ride there. My guess is asap.
phpaul
Bah Hahbah is busy right up until snow, but after Labor Day and before the leaf peepers show up in mid-October is probably the sweet spot. If ya plan to get up this way, leave me a PM here, maybe we can meet up.
Premium Member nhridah Posted July 25, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted July 25, 2016 Sure thing, that is what I thought about timing I almost forgot about the leaf peepers, it will depend on what kind of plan my son comes up with I am hoping he includes Acadia if not I will plan a ride up and let you show me around the Maine coastline. Premium Member nhridah Posted July 25, 2016 Premium Member Share Posted July 25, 2016 I like your spelling of BAH HAHBA better. Must be my Boston accent lol.

Can do. We've got some gorgeous riding around here. Some of the roads are less than ideal, but if you're not in a hurry there's lots of views.
