root
Ok, I'm doing this mostly out of selfish reasons. I'd like to replace my seat and I'm finding it difficult to know what all my options are so I'm creating a list. I would appreciate anyone posting any options I miss along with a link. I'm looking for options that have been made specifically for the FJ-09 / MT-09 Tracer. This is not meant to be an endorsement for any of the manufacturers, just a list of options, preferably with links to product pages. I know it's early in the product lifecycle of the FJ and a lot of custom seat manufacturers just haven't had an FJ to work on yet. I'd like to keep this updated if possible as seats are announced or released for the FJ. I'd like to refrain from posting manufacturers that have not anounced plans to make a seat for the FJ-09 or custom sites that haven't yet made one for the FJ. I know it's probably only a matter of time before Russell and Saddlemen make something for the FJ, but there is no news on either site so I have left them off the list until there's at least some information. If a manufacturer announces they are making a seat, even if it's not released yet, I will add it to the list. Please post below any options I'm missing. I will do the list in the following format: Name of manufacturer last known price (USD unless otherwise noted) Whether or not it requires the use of the stock seat pan("Uses Stock Seat Pan" it requires stock seat pan, "Replacement Seat" stock seat is preserved for later use or resale) Area of Availibility Web Link to the product ------------------------------------------------ Seat Concepts $204.99-$269.99 Uses Stock Seat Pan USA, Europe [/url]Seat Concepts Product Page ------------------------------------------------- Corbin $452-$593 Replacement Seat USA, Europe (for a significant premium in price) http://corbin.com/yamaha/yfj09r.shtml http://corbin-europe.com/dual-saddle-for-2014-2015-yamaha-fj-09l-mt09-not-heated.html ------------------------------------------------- Yamaha Comfort Saddle $365.99 Replacement Seat Worldwide (your local yamaha dealer) https://www.shopyamaha.com/product/details/fj-09-comfort-saddle?b=Street+Motorcycle&d=28|28&dealernumber= ------------------------------------------------- Sargent $279+ (Front Only), $469+ (Front and Rear) Replacement Seat Worldwide http://www.sargentcycle.com/Seats-Accessories/Sargent-Seats-Yamaha-FJ09/ ------------------------------------------------- Digger Seats Uses Stock Seat Pan unknown price Europe www.diggerseats.co.uk/Home.html - based in Newport, S.Wales ------------------------------------------------- Tony Archer Uses Stock Seat Pan unknown price Europe www.tonyarcher.co.uk/ - based in Huddersfield ------------------------------------------------- bs-motorsports-uk - Ebay vendor in Germany Uses Stock Seat Pan UK price £131.90 + £5.90 delivery Europe, Australia Ebay vendor in Germany ------------------------------------------------- Luimoto Uses Stock Seat Pan (Only Replaces The Cover) $130-$250 US/Canada http://www.luimoto.com/?p=480 ------------------------------------------------- Great Day to Ride Not Yet Ready. lapuree
good idea. You might want to add 'area of availibility' for us non-US guys ;-)
Premium Member wessie Posted August 17, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted August 17, 2015 good idea. You might want to add 'area of availibility' for us non-US guys ;-)Yes, the Corbin seat starts at a heady £520 from the UK distributor - see the Euro section for a link and details of the very generous 5% discount This signature is left blank as the poster writes enough pretentious bollocks as it is. root
good idea. You might want to add 'area of availibility' for us non-US guys ;-)I added it, but I will need help in that area from the people it affects. I will default to USA, as that is the area I know. Please let me know if it is different. Does anyone know the availibility of Seat Concepts? I seem to remember people outside the US ordering it but I can't be for sure. root
Is this right? There's only 2 available at this point and one that's publicly in development? This is all I've been able to find so far. I hope I'm wrong and someone can add to the list.

Premium Member wessie Posted August 17, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted August 17, 2015 There are a number of people who will reupholster the original seat in the UK. I have no idea of the prices but the seat modified by Tony Archer I purchased from another Super Tenere owner was quite an improvement. The other company is Digger Seats, which is an option I have been considering over the coming winter. http://www.diggerseats.co.uk/Home.html - based in Newport, S.Wales http://www.tonyarcher.co.uk/ - based in Huddersfield I'm sure every country has a number of options to do a bespoke upgrade rather than an off the shelf unit. Seat Concepts will ship to Europe, not cheap of course: $60 for France. Can't find a local retailer though.

Yes, I'm sure as well. I added these options to the list. Me personally, I'm looking for an off the shelf option. If I spend all that money and it's not any better than stock or even worse than stock, I'd like to be able to resell it and still have a seat to ride with. jamboa
Anybody know about Terry Adkins custom seats? 2015 FJ-09 matte gray 2013 Honda CB1100 2004 Triumph T100 Bonneville
root
Anybody know about Terry Adkins custom seats?Any info on him? I get nothing about motorcycles when I google that name. Are you thinking Terry Adcox? I don't see any info on him making anything for an FJ. If someone can get pricing and other info on him, I can add him to the list. I hate to add to the list someone who may or may not do the seat for an FJ but no one here has any experience with and they don't market a seat for the FJ. If someone here has experience buying from him and is confident they will do an FJ seat I am comfortable adding them to the list.

Premium Member wessie Posted August 28, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted August 28, 2015 Here's a new one - I was looking up a source for some Ermax products and came across this Diva seat just launched by Bagster (at Silverstone a French retailer), makers of the Baglux tankbags so popular in Europe. 278 euros for the standard pair of seats which includes the piping in a range of colours. You can spec Bultex foam for 32 euros, gel inserts for 89 euros, heating for 135 euros or combinations. In £ sterling the base pair of seats is £203 so this seat is a lot cheaper than the Corbin seat for European riders. The UK importer will stick a £ sign in front of those numbers which is a rip off, as there are currently 1.36 euros to the £ There is also a cheaper option without the add-ons, the Presto - although you can choose the colour of the piping This signature is left blank as the poster writes enough pretentious bollocks as it is.
