Might be interesting to see what the Forum consensus is on the amount of play riders are using and if any adverse effects have been noticed. STUFF EVERYTHING - I'VE ALWAYS GOT MY BIKE! I seem to recall seeing that page linked here before but cannot confirm. I'm pretty sure it's at lease been discussed here. After following the link below, I see it has been discussed. Please see the following link to get the current forum consensus on the chain spec: http://lmgtfy.com/?q=site%3Afj-09.org+chain

rockinsv
I've seen a couple people on here post about concern on the chain slack and I have a tendency to think Yamaha's spec in the manual is much too tight. I thought I'd pass this along, food for thought!http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/how-tight-should-chain-be-new-bike-tech-tips-answers?src=SOC&dom=fb
Premium Member jeff400650 Posted August 28, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted August 28, 2015 I agree. The chain seems too tight to me. I don't see the benefit. I think it could contribute to the harsh suspension too by limiting swing arm travel. I am going to loosen mine... at least a little bit. Pistons or pedals, 2 wheels are where it's at... It's kinda confusing having the 2 with the exact same name linking to the exact same article. Mods? glass3222
It's amazing how 2 different Yamaha bike can be on this chain slack discussion. I do not like the manuals spec of 5-15mm on the FJ-09, I think it is too tight. On the other hand my wife has an FZ-07. It calls for 51-55.8mm which seems too slack.
