I got a Puig touring windscreen for $139 on Ebay and installed it tonight after work. I took a ride down the highway and I like it. A lot less noise and wind blast. On local roads it was really quiet and I could ride with my face shield up. I'm 6'1" and was worried I'd be too tall but it's good. I also installed TST blinkers front and rear with blinker genies on the front so they work as running lights. I got rid of the handguards and reflectors and I think this bike looks a lot better. It looks cluttered to me in stock trim. now it looks lean.

Hello,

Yesterday I installed the genuine LED Flash Lights Plus. I'm not a technician, but with help from Youtube it works perfectly! I changed the connectors and solder everyting together. The result:

Today I have mostly been removing the tank and airbox in preparation for the imminent arrival of my Translogic quickshifter.

To those of you who have removed the tank, how on earth did you get the breather hoses off?!  Mine simply wouldn't budge.  In the end I lifted the tank off with them still attached.

All cleaned up in preparation for tomorrow morning’s ride.

Meanwhile, the Aprilia sulks quietly in the background, wondering why I quit loving it...

Actually, I do too... that’s why I still have mine.  :)

I used it as my instructor bike when I worked with one of the local track day programs, then converted it back to street configuration when that gig ended a couple of years ago.   It’s just such an uncompromising & focused bike that I have to be in the right mood to ride it...  I can cover 200 spirited miles on the FJ before lunch, and be ready for 200 more.  On the Aprilia, well, not so much.

It’s a pre-electronics era bike, and I honestly love the analog directness of how it works.  It does not tolerate foolish behavior, and will hurt you in a hurry if you get it wrong.   But in the right environment, and with the right mindset, it’s still a brilliant device... I have to remind myself that it’s approaching 20 years old.

We need a Star Wars grade deflector shield... Maybe George Lucas has a few spares...

Not quite in the same category, but the riders I know in Arkansas swear by these:

I did the 20k mile oil change.  The brake pads and air filter are being delivered tomorrow where I'll complete the rest of the service.

I removed the Higdonian cage and trimmed the tab on the bottom and installed Dorman part number 090-082 which is the low profile equivalent of the mazda part and uses an 8mm allen key.  Am oscillating saw made quick and clean work of the tab and cut it out in about a minute.

I was disappointed to find that the engine bolts were not stainless (Or the cage was rusting and spreading?  I'm not sure).  They were difficult to remove due to the rust (despite lots of blue loc-tite back when I installed it).  This was despite the plastic caps being installed.  My motorcycle does see more than it's fair share of rain though, being a daily commuter.  Between that and the left side lean clearance issues that has me losing confidence in the motorcycle on left sweepers, I won't be reinstalling the cage and start searching for frame sliders/engine covers instead.

Curious to see how these work on my stock rotors. Only 3k miles. Everything I have read about them say they are an improvement. Let everyone know after they are installed. Buy the looks of the weather in NY I’ll have plenty of days to install. Spring is late to arrive here.

You shouldn't need an HH pad for the rear, its already too easy to get the ABS activated on the rear.

I'm curious how the front pads work for you once bedded in, I have a set of the exact same pads sitting on my work bench, I'm still using the stock pads for now.
