My Street Naked (819-50) came in... test fitted the controls on the new bar and the cables look good thus far. A couple more perspective shots with the OE bar and a wag on the sweep (wrist-wise) angle. Confident that this bar will ease pressure on my thumbs and help relax my shoulders.

LOL.  Necro-post!  But great info Piotrek-- great comparison.  I have my eye on this bar, and I believe you've clenched it for me.  Thanks for taking the time to put this together for the forum.

I've gone lower and went back to stock and previously considered the Street Naked and now am again, along with the Pro Taper Contour  Raptor, EVO Dirt Track (which are too wide) and the Neken 133, Orig. RMZ and Orig. YZF because of their increased sweep.  I've also considered the Rizoma MA008, MA005 & MA009 (as well as others).

You stated you test fitted them, have you installed them yet as others have but some deleted the hand guards.  A few questions.

Is dimension D have adequate room to fit the OEM risers (I believe they do)?

Do the ends needed to be drilled and tapped for the OEM bar end threaded inserts?

With the KTM hand guards I have, do you know if there still be room for the OEM controls given dimension F is .79" (10 mm) less ?  I can heat the plastic on the hand guards where they clamp onto the bar as needed to extend them into the first inside bend.  Another concern is that I'm planning on buying the McCruise CC with their new 5/8" wide control switch that is vertical and fits between the left control pod and clutch perch, thus demanding that much more room.

Attached are photos of the lower Outlaw Racing TH-08 Low bars I had installed and my current bar set-up.

Thanks

I didn't, that was a before photo of the low bars.  I installed the R1 MC, Spiegler lines, 320 mm rotors and new HH+ pads when I went back to the OEM bars.  Matt's 3-way cartridges, Sonic .95 springs, my own blend of force fluid, and a K-Tech Razor R shock completed the package

Test fitted the controls only. If the guards don't fit... will cross that bridge when time comes.

  • OE clamp is 130mm between outer edges. The bar dimension D is 140mm. I have the bar perched atop Barback risers.
  • The bar ends need to be tapped.

EDIT: Looks like the guards work. Might be a bit of interference with throttle cables. A little trimming should fix that. Can't tell how much until everything is set.

@piotrek - I can only assume that this is not a problem but I'll ask anyway - so no issues with tank clearance at full lock?

I have the gilles bar risers installed at the highest and as far rearward that they will go setting with my stock bars so may have to change things if I go down this path.

TIA

...I think I'm good 😁. Throttle cables have been re-routed when I installed the risers. I haven't yet fixed anything in place (need the bike together and on wheels for this), but it looks like things will work okay.

Given I use the OEM risers (no bar-backs which raise and move back the bars) I was not too concerned about brake hose, clutch cable and electrical wiring slack.

Are those my KTM hand guards?

BTW, whose levers are those and does their length adjust and do they also pivot up or down in the case of a tip-over?

Both the guards and the levers are mine. 😁

The guards are the common part used by many on here... could be same as yours. Levers are eBay... regular length, adjustable reach. No other features.

  • 10 months later...

I got back form a ride and the bars must go!

I don't have any hand guards so that's a non-issue.

The Street Naked (819-50)  Bars seem to be the way to go.  I already have These risers, they help, but not enough.

adv_og_logo.png

It took a while, but we have the final product in our hands. Billet 6061...

  25mm rise and 22mm back.

Will this bar work with those risers with all the OEM cables and hoses?

Can I take an additional inch off each end and still have enough room?

Cheapest place to buy them in USA?

I know lots of questions.

Thanks for the help.

I have Helibars risers, 1" up and 1" back and had no issues with cable length.  I did loosen the front brake mount bolt on the lower triple clamp (follow the brake line down, you cant miss it) so the line has some slack.  I also cut 1" off each side of the bars, I use Rizoma MA005 bars.
