Aftermarket Levers

Recommended Posts

hi there,

I recently slapped on some chinese shortie levers on my FJ, that came off my FZ07.
Turns out that due to the large switch gear cluster, i cannot pull the clutch all the way in.

What levers work?

I've been looking at these, but is there a cheaper alternative?
I've had chinese levers on my super ten for 65xxx abusive km's with zero issues..don't want to spend $200+ USD on levers.

forgot to add links...duuuuh.

90€
Not sure if shipping to the US is going to be worth it though but there must be something equivalent on your side of the pond.

I'm using the CRG levers:

http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/crg-folding-roll-a-click-clutch-lever

The clutch lever comes very close to the left switchgear, but clears it if the lever is perpendicular to the switchgear (similar to the position the stock lever likely had after assembly).  I like my levers angled down more than stock, and if I do it to exactly the angle I prefer the lever does make contact the switchgear at full pull.  While the clutch still disengages well before that point I chose to reduce the angle slightly to ensure minimal clearance.  It's not perfect, but it's very close, and I've been quite happy with the result.

Here's a pic of how I have it set up here:

main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=90402&g2_serialNumber=1

You may be able to see that the lever is angled down a bit.  That ends up clearing the switchgear by perhaps 1mm.  Just enough.

One thing I didn't realize when I bought these levers is that the handguards on the FJ do a very nice job of protecting the levers in a tip-over or crash.  Folding levers may be less useful as a result, so I could have spent a bit less money on adjustable but not folding levers instead.  I love the levers in any case, I have the reach set to exactly what I like and I no longer end up with an aching hand after a day of riding in the hills.

those look good.  but my current set up will hit where the rotating part moves back and forth.

Yessir. They are a bit shorter than the stock levers, reducing leverage and making the pull a little heavier, but nothing that is unreasonable. I like them a lot. I can always revert back to my stock levers at anytime.
