fjjouster
so im about 5'11" and weigh in fully geared at 240Lb. im mounting bags, top and side, and possibly a 130Lb Pillion on occasion. does anyone have any input as to what to do with the suspension settings, or if you have changed anything after being delivered from dealer. just trying to get input from other riders over 200LB closer to 240LB. i think stock from dealer, its close to perfect, but wondering if i play with the settings, ill get a more compliant ride. gabefzr6
In order to get 25% sag at the rear with me on the bike I had to set the shock at position 5 of 7. It was delivered at position 4. I weigh 200 lb. with all my gear on. The front preload had to be screwed down to almost flush with the fork caps to get 33% sag. At first this set up was a bit bouncy. Yesterday I tried dialing in more rebound damping and have achieved a decent balance front to rear. I am finding the suspension better than I expected but I will still be upgrading both ends soon. To be clear, I usually place handling precision at a higher priority than comfort. 2008 Street Triple G 2015 FJ-
FigJam-OhNine
I'm 210lbs but haven't touched the adjustments yet. I'll play with it the next time it isn't raining @gabefzr6 do you know what rebound setting you ended up with? Did you adjust this at all on the rear, or only the front? Right now I am at 1 1/4 turns out from fully clockwise on the rear rebound. The front I have at 4 clicks (1 turn) out from fully clockwise. This seems pretty good for me but I will continue to fiddle to see if I can find abetter setting. Also, as the suspension breaks in I will probably have to adjust some more. 2008 Street Triple G 2015 FJ-
Guest redneck
Thanks gabefzr6, those settings are perfect for my 6'1" 200lbs frame. the bike feels more planted and stable all the way to the speed limiter.
Premium Member jeff400650 Posted August 23, 2015 Premium Member Share Posted August 23, 2015 I just got my bike 3 days ago and love it, especially after adding more preload and damping. It was so soft that it felt stiff. I was confused at first, but it felt stiff because it was riding so low in the stroke, that it was bottoming on every bump. I am 6'3", 220lbs with gear on. I set preload like gabe above and rebound at 1/2 turn out at rear and 2 clicks out at front. It feels worlds better. A work in progress... Pistons or pedals, 2 wheels are where it's at...
